2025 Getting/Staying In Shape Motivation Thread

3am Zone 2 run- 12.7 miles in 2:31:39 at a sloooow 11:57/mi pace, average HR 122bpm.
I have a 10K coming up on July 4th and thinking I might should change some stuff up before the run. My goal is to be under a 9:00/ minute pace.
Have a great day everyone!!!!

Also, I was able to do 15lb dumbbell bench press and bent over rows…. With no pain in my repaired tendon that was fixed back in February. Very hopeful that I will start pulling the bow back by August 1st!!

Got my butt absolutely handed to me today. Wanted 14 miles but my 2nd loop was sucking so bad I had to cut it short due to time. 13.3. 2:32. 1970 foot of gain. My goal was to bomb the downhills today and work my quads. I nailed that in my first 7 miles and my legs let me know I did too much the second 7. Starting the run at 1pm with midday heat, humidity, and wildfire smoke certainly didn’t help. Still a fantastic workout and probably the fastest I’ve ever climbed 2k feet. 5 weeks in a row over 30. Time to rest up and get back after it tomorrow after the last flag football game of the season

4:15am (slept in) Zone 2 for the first 2 miles then did 10.7 more miles at whatever my legs wanted to do. I was hoping to be in the 9 minute mile range and it was pretty close even with the 2 slow pace miles in the equation.
Total: 12.7 miles in 1:57:28 at a 9:15 pace and average HR of 142bpm.

First time over 50 miles in a week, even though it was by the skin of my teeth @ 50.7.
Happy Father’s Day!!!!!

@Just_Hangin_N_GA I use a Garmin and Strava and I'm pretty sure @GreginPA is right about how Garmin and Strava work together.
I have the free version of Strava and it is pulling data from my Garmin Connect App. However, it doesn’t pull my Heart Rate data and I have everything enabled that I can see. Is the HR data part of the paid plan?
Do you guys make your data public or only share with certain people?
Thanks

8 easy + 4 sets of strides today to total 9. Add another 1,300 foot of gain to the weekend. First week over 40! Besides my left knee, legs felt shockingly good after yesterday. Time for a few beers and rest tomorrow. Happy Father’s Day everyone!

I have paid. I don't really remember what the differences are between paid and unpaid. guess I should look into that. But I do enjoy the app and get motivation from it. especially when it tells me I beat my own records. so I don't mind throwing them a few bucks.

I can see Hokie's HR data and he is unpaid - so you must have a permission set wrong.

As far as public v private - their descriptions are confusing to me - I gave up on trying to understand it. I figure if someone wants to track me down and run with me that would be cool I like running with people. if someone wants to track me down to do me harm - come try me. I'm well armed and my life insurance is paid up.

congrats on first week over 40 hokie!

My schedule for the week
M - 6 easy
Tu - 8x1k (9 total)
W - 7 easy
Th - 4 easy trail
F - trail relay race Sunset to Midnight - likely to hit about 8
Sa - 4 easy
Su - 14 easy

trying to take my easy runs easier. also adding strides to some of them.

4 yesterday and 6 today to get me just over 20 for the week.

Officially registered for the Cape Cod Marathon, October 12 so I have 17 weeks to get back into marathon shape. A goal 3:44:59 B goal 3:59:59 C goal finish hopefully with a PR (4:20ish)
You are definitely committed… October is some good deer hunting around here. Congratulations and good luck!!!!

Happy birthday @thedutchtouch

Yesterday was a 5 round box circuit. 14 step ups per paired with 14 push ups, 14 DB rows, 14 hanging leg raises and 8 pull ups. Stayed on my self imposed goal of 30 minutes but only had about 1 minute in zone 4. Roughly 24 minutes in zone 3. Gonna call that improvement since normally zone 4 is 4 minutes'ish for the same workout.

This aged poorly. Man are they feeling it today! Ha. Plan this week is:

Tuesday: 6 easy and strides
Wednesday: 2 easy, 3x8:00, 2 easy, 4x:30
Thursday: 6 easy
Saturday: 16 trail
Sunday: 10 trail

Very possible I modify Saturday and Sunday depending on how much time I have. Supposed to only increase volume 10% per week and I pushed that this week and this would be doing the same. Gonna see how the knee/legs feel and adjust accordingly. Have a good week, everyone! Keep crushing it

Same here but I'm hoping this is the first year I convince myself to actually take days off work to hunt to make up for it
Plus if I was gonna take a few days off in October here it would be closer to early ML. It’s usually crankin up then. You can be good & recovered from your PR & ready for taxidermist

Monday - Weighted strength training
Tuesday - 45 minute Uphill training (incline treadmill at 15% grade, wearing 40 lb ruck. Zone 2 the whole time
Wednesday - Off
Thursday - 2 10 minute hard run intervals (ride the line between zone 3/4). 15 minutes of zone 1 after
Friday - Bodyweight strength & zone 1 work
Saturday - 2 hour uphill session on the treadmill. Zone 1/2 the whole time

hit 220x7 on top set of bench press today. then did a drop set 185x10. word to the wise (that I always struggle to take) - it does make you stronger to drop working weights and ramp back up! cloudy and breezy conditions kept temps down and made for a pleasant session.
