2025 Getting/Staying In Shape Motivation Thread

@GreginPA will let you in at some point soon, he's the group admin.

I've been chipping away at it on the treadmill this week, 4.5 yesterday, 5 today. I am doing a small a local 5k Sunday to support a friend's family, that I haven't decided how hard I want to try, so will likely send it as hard as I can (7:20 pace to break into the 22s? Maybe slower? Haven't done a 5k in forever), marathon isnt until October 12

I wish I would have captured my 2 weeks in Colorado. I had my phone in Airplane mode and also Battery save mode. No signal anyway where we were and phone would die when a few hours trying to constantly search. If you have a secret on other options let me know for next year.

Sounds amazing…. But to be honest I have no idea what all the acronyms stand for :)
Help an older brother out, lol.
EMOM = Every Minute On the Minute
AMRAP = As Many (Rounds or Reps) As Possible

Minute 1 Max Cals on the Echo Bike
Minute 2 Max Cals on Skierg
Minute 3 Max Cals on Rowerg
Minute 4 Rest
Rinse and repeat until the clock hits 29mins

I haven't done anything like that yet however I have the Garmin Instinct 2X Solar Watch (I pair to Polar H10 Chest Strap at the gym) which in my current configuration (Track Sleep w/HRV and Heart Rate) will last 31 days without a charge. That being said, GPS and the built in flashlight will drain it quicker however if you're out in the sun all day it will solar charge. It's not going to charge up days' worth but seems to at least maintain or dramatically slow the rate of battery drain. I wouldn't hesitate to take it and use it on a 2-week hunt assuming I left fully charged. Compass/Altimeter/GPS Tracking/Waypoint and all the good stuff. It's also built like a tank and its waterproof. I did replace the band after almost 2 years with it. I work as a maintenance mechanic in an Aluminum Rolling mill, and I beat stuff up.

Man I am going to be dropping these acronyms all around town like hot potatoes. Won’t be able to tell me anything. :)

Drank a bit too.much yesterday lol and that course was short by .09 so not a 5k but ended up coming in third in the (small) race this AM, 7:32 pace average. I need to do more racing if want to get better at these short distances, i held back too much and finished feeling like I could have gone harder. Oh well, I had fun and it was nice turning the legs over a bit quicker than I've been running for a while.

Need some help from the long distance guys. Debating entering a backyard ultra in November, last man standing style. Never ran a marathon, or half, furthest I’ve ran was 10 miles straight.
4 mile loop, every hour on the hour. Currently hitting 15-20 miles a week, usually 5 miles per run at a 8:45-9 average pace.
Doable or dumb? Not at all interesting winning, last years winner did 180. Would love to hit 50 though

Both. Lol it's something I'd like to try some day too

is it a flat loop?
what is the surface?
are you young?
taking the 15-20 min break every loop may hurt you more than help. I'd aim for slower pace (shut up @hokiehunter373)
I think you need to build more base miles per week before aiming for 50. If you are good at listening to your body and knowing when to stop - then throw your hat in - and quit when your body says to. There is nothing worse than getting injured and being unable to run, I can personally attest to this.

2 mile down and back on a bike path, so pretty flat, 29 years old 6’3 185
I was thinking the slower pace too, I think just to hit my goal I won’t need a ton of rest in between laps
Recommendations on miles per week to get up to?
As far as listening to my body, I identify with that stray dog that’s been ran over a few times but still chases cars

I'd say 40 miles plus per week, consistently for 2+ months. And you should probably have a 20+ mile run under your belt. But being so young allows you a lot more room to fit your stubborn identity. no offense. If you do it, let us know how your training goes and the results!

Crossfit Benchmark workout this morning. 5:30am classes are a struggle for me, but I do what I have to do.
