2025 Trail Camera Thread

Went and pulled my last four cameras yesterday. The first seven that were out through August and September were pretty disappointing. Nothing bigger than a spike. Of the four I pulled, three were all does and small bucks. The last one had about a dozen bucks that I'd be happy to shoot, including one eye popper (for around here anyway). These are all night pics - in the daylight they were typically moving a little faster, and the images from my cheap cameras are blurry. I'm really itching to get in there now, but it's so hot! Season starts Wednesday.

The day I was waiting for arrived. The 8pter I've been following since 2022 has returned. Can't believe it but he still looks like an 8. Thats 3 straight years he's an 8. 5.5 years old.

What's so impressive about this animal, is his area is in downtown rifleville. There's a 270 win hiding behind every tree for two weeks, and not only has he never be taken yet, but I've never talked to someone whose seen him with their own eyes. Not anyone on our hunt club, or the two adjacent hunt clubs. He's a camera only deer.

Looks small here but I had to zoom in heavily. 1000043415.jpg

I’ve hunted public land off and on for 20 years, but last year decided to actually get more serious about scouting and not treat the public hunts entirely as the laid back deer camp experience. Finally got first big one on cam in hill country!

A toad like that in hill country is an entirely different species of whitetail. Cunning s.o.b's. good luck

I’m 3.5 hours away I know my odds are low, but last year I decided to start working the long long term play of better understanding kinda who’s out there, and what’s happening on these ridges, at least making progress. May never happen but it’s fun to try.

In the same boat here. Got other places to kill deer so I am not pressing hard to kill them in the mountains yet. Just taking my time and trying to learn the areas and whats out there.
