2025 Trash talk

I have an absolute beast of a Piney Woods 11 pointer hemmed up this year. See picture below.

As embarrassing as it is to admit, a deer just like that gave me the worst buck fever I've ever had! It was the first time i ever had a deer within shooting distance. Couldn't even draw my bow lol. All I could do was stand there and tremble and feel my heart trying to tear through my sternum.

A spike gets me more excited for 2 reasons. 1st I start thinking do I want to shoot him? Should I shoot him? How big is he? Is he a big 2.5yr old? Then I start going is there a bigger one behind him? Maybe the bigger buck is following him. All these questions swirl and gets me excited.
If I see a nice 8pt plus walk out. I dial in and say he needs me to take the air out of his lungs. No hesitation. Insert projectile into cavity at first available opportunity.

It's doe for me to this day. A giant walks out and I have ice water in my veins. A doe comes in and hangs around I feel like it can hear my heart it is beating so hard.

Understandable, as those old does will completely blow you out of your spot!

I had one come up behind me, and I didn't realize it. I guess I moved a little too fast, and all of a sudden heard a loud "PHEE!" And it was a big old doe. Scared the crap out of me. She then took off through the woods - PHEEE PHEEE PHEEE - then down the side of the ridge -PHEE PHEEE PHEEE - across the valley - PHEE PHEE - up the adjacent ridge - PHEE PHEE PHEEE PHEE. She continued this until I could barely make out the sound. That old gal must have blown every hunter out of the woods that day along those ridge tops lmao.

This was going on 3 years ago. I joke with my uncle that she's probably still at a dead run, blowing her lungs out all over those woods.

Those old matriarch does are the cleverest animal in the woods. I've watched them send the young ones in first to see what will happen many a time. They are sharp and ruthless.
