Which is all around better for mobile hang and hunting the 24" or 20" beast sticks? I ask because the 20" are in stock a lot more often. I am 6'-2" and 260ish pounds and much prefer to be at least 18' up when ever I hunt so I plan on buying 5 sticks I also plan on installing the 20" LW cable aiders on the bottom two to start now the EWO are no longer available.

Kind of comes down to personal preference and physical build, as stride length/height/leg length plays a role.

If you aren't sure, take two of your existing climbing sticks and head out to a tree with a tape measure.

Put on your heaviest/bulky layers that you'd use when hunting.

Do two tests - space your existing climbing sticks out 22" apart and 18" apart (which is the step distance for the 24" and 20" beast sticks), and see which one fits you better.

If you are 6'2" tall, more than likely you will be fine with the 24" standard beast sticks, but you can figure it out before ordering with what I've described above.

If you are buying 5 sticks, the 24" standard sticks will get you 20" higher off the ground than the 20" mini sticks. (22"-18")*5 = 20", or 1'8"

Good luck!

I’m 6’4, 235 and run four 24 inch sticks. No aiders or anything. If you put the top step at your forehead height while attaching it to the tree you can easily get 18ft. Additionally, you can place your platform higher or at the same height as your top stick for a few more inches of height as well.

Thanks for the replies greatly appreciate all of you sharing your experiences. Was planning on using cable aiders on first two sticks.

Great suggestion will do.
Thanks again to all for your help.

This is where buying a cheaper full length sticks and modifying it to your exact wants pays off

I’m 5-7ft, and use the 24in sticks no problem although everyone’s climbing ability is different. With 4 beast sticks and just using 3 step aider only on the bottom step, I can get over 20ft. If I want a little more height and want to stretch it for late season, I put one stick on tree climb up, then put the step with 3ft aider on tree as high as i think I can reach from ground. You don’t need 5 sticks to get 18ft.

I’m 6-2 and bought the original 24” sticks.
I have a long torso and shorter legs than most 6-2ers. What did it for me was at the end of season when I had to wear more layers. I had issues getting my boot over the step. I sold them and switch to the 20”. I put 18” cable aiders on each. I use a three step aider in the first stick. And couldn’t be happier. I get 5’ per stick. BTW i bought my aiders on Mcmaster Carr.

Anyone notice a difference in step size on a stick vs an aider step? On how how it is to climb that is. I have 22” cable aiders and find them to be about my max. Wondered if a stick with a 22” step would be easier? Yes ik it’s the same distance but people seem to use full size beast sticks with no problem. Then I notice people usually run shorter aiders.

I like the 20” option with single step aiders on each step for packability reasons.

I cannot use a 22in aider but have no problem with the full size Beast sticks. All aiders even the cable ones stretch a bit under load.
