30-30 help me decide

I’ve shot one deer with my 30-30 Winchester but I still take that gun when I gun hunt. I hunt open sites and usually end up crossing a river or climbing over stuff to get where I want to hunt. I feel like if I had a scope on it, it would break off on something.

Ive wanted a lever action 30-30 for awhile and i have found a few in my area. Here's the dilemma...i really want the winchester 94. I'm obsessed with it, its an American legend but all my buddies are saying get the marlin its the better gun and has the side eject for easier scope mounting. Where i hunt, very rarely can i even see clearly 100 yards and i was intending on using the iron sights anyway....so guys chime in, is the marlin the better of the lever actions? am i crazy for only wanting to use open sights?
Get a Henry with side ejection. Shoot iron sights. But get a gun you can put rings on. As you get older, if God grants you enough days. Your going to want that scope. Henry comes with a lifetime warranty.

Marlin everyday. I have a scoped 336 in 35 REM, peeped JM 336 in 30-30 and 1895 45-70 guide gun. Just depends on what kind of mood I’m in.

In 1983 Winchester went to angle eject. You can put a scope on top of any Winchester after that. To me Winchester vs Marlin is like Ford vs Chevy. I’ve had both and prefer the straight stocked Winchester.
