3v outlaw ii sling pack

Has anyone hiked any distance with this pack weighted? My experience is that sling packs in general are not that comfortable over distance when loaded.

Full disclosure, I love this pack…use it daily for my laptop and work stuff. Tried it for hunting because it’s awesome…but like you allude to above, either I had too much weight in it (likley), I’m a wimp (probable), or the one shoulder thing isn’t that comfy…

In theory it’s perfect…I’m eying the 5.11 with detachable straps that converts to either shoulder or a backpack….

Yes, to scout and practice with bow.
It feels heavy above 10-12lbs.
Ive loaded it with saddle / 5 WE / ROS/ Rappelling and one stick to climb with both systems.
This was far too heavy for one strap; around 16 pounds
Gray pack in tree w rope pouch on back.

I feel like if you bring a lot of stuff or use heavy sticks then you might need to get a backpack. I use 3 17” regular shikars, predator platform, and a few small items (knife, spare release, TP, and rangefinder). With just these items it was perfect. I wouldn’t use it with my 20” hawk helium’s because I think it would be too heavy and overloaded. So, if you’re a minimalist this pack is for you. It was really nice not having to take the pack off while getting to the tree, climbing, and setting up.

I snatched the last $25 from ebay. I really like it for my EDC, but it was not good for my hunting system. I dont think slings are meant to be for long haul with even medium weight. Its now my EDC which I dont regret buying. But then again, if you're only walking less than 2ish miles, pick the bag that will serve for the whole hunt and suck up the minor discomfort for the walk. I just decided to go with something else that fit my planned system more.

how far are you walking with that load?

Kick an older thread around. Any more likes it dislikes on this sling pack? Thanks in advance!

I just sold mine. It was a great pack for the price but not what I was looking for after using it a couple of times this season.

What's your bag of choice currently?
MR Divide I picked up used on here a couple of weeks or so ago. I'm not sure they make it anymore but I'm a one sticker and it carries everything I need perfect so far. Someday I'd like to upgrade to the Kifaru Shape Charge. BTW, I have two Badlands packs on sale here in the classifieds and they have a lifetime warranty. Just not big enough for what I like to carry.

I don’t do YouTube videos but this pack has made me want to, just so I can calibrate you people to how awesome the pack is.

predator fits. Repel rope management is perfect, two zippered pockets fit main rope then madrock and Biner go in the smaller zipper pocket.

spurs fit nice on outside. 3 hawks with aiders fit nice on outside. 4 is a bit much but still pretty comfy. A one stick would love to be on this pack.

I have an x2 yet I can’t seem to leave this pack at home even as the weather turns I still seem to take this out despite adding more and more gear to my trips into the woods.

great pack. Versatile.

Now that’s some out of the box thinking! I’d love to see a vid or pics of how your setting this up for rappelling.
