5.5mm / 6mm eye-to-eye hitch cords

I do prefer hitches over mechanical devices but I also know myself. I have a bad habit of grabbing my tether if I want to stand up or shift positions. One more than a few occasions, I've grabbed the hitch instead of the rope.

Whenever I do, I feel a great disturbance in the force, like a million instructors crying out "safety" all at once.

Finding polypropylene cover is very grabby, requires less wraps, it acts like a weak velcro. TRC needs 5 wraps with the Michoacán, the polypropylene only needed 3, the fewer wraps made sliding the hitch up and down easier, both cords are 20” long.

Does anyone know what size would work well with the 9mm Camo Canyon Elite? I always scare myself when I’m about to purchase something I run percentages. Then I come here and read all this valuable info and psych myself out.

Im thinking 8mm Flex Hitchcord from EWO will do.

Do your hitch cords have a MBS rating on them. I emailed Cruzr and they told me they were rated at just over 3000 Lbs so they are in the 10% loss of strength ballpark with the sewn eyes. Just wondered if they put the rating on the tag.
Curious if you have tried the hitches one at a time seperatley and how they held and broke loose after being weighted?
I don't even know what MBS stands for, but here are the labels that came on them. Hopefully it's not a personalized message from them to me saying "Might Break, Skipnoid"

I use the 6mm PROBE eye-to-eye's from EWO on C-IV and they grab tight.

Notice I only need three wraps to hold my little butt up in a tree...

I run a Hollowblock on my C-IV and it locks tight but releases easily.

I couldn't get a Hollowblock to catch on mine on too many occasions. Weird...

Edit: It was brand new when I was testing that combination. The C-IV is super slick when new. It might work fine now?

If you zoom in you can just barely see one of my baby zip-ties right where you drew the O ring...
There's one next to the biner too.

That's a good rating for the TRC hitch cord. The Probe hitch cords are not rated at all.
I'll have to experiment with using less wraps for my Schwabisch and Distel hitches with the Probe cord. The recommended 4 wraps gets so tight you can't tend it.

Camo elite actually measures to 10.5, will 6mm still work?

Excellent question. I called EWO to ask about the 5.5 Beal they sell and it is in spec for the camo canyon and I know they aren’t going to BS people. So I would think 6mm will work also. I am looking at getting the camo elite and was going to make my own custom length hitch cords with the 5.5 in case you were wondering why I called EWO to verify those numbers.

FYI on the Beal 5.5mm: it is recommended to use a triple fisherman's knot(s), vs. a double, in order to keep the core from slipping in the sheath. That being said, I personally really like the Beal 5.5mm on Oplux and Resc Tech, I haven't played with it on the Canyon C-IV yet.

Let me know what they say! No need both of us or others to ask them the same question lol
