How many would y’all get? I am planning on the knaider swadier use and then I know I want need 8 steps but will probably not have time to practice with until next season. Would y’all recommend getting 5 steps or 8?

Do not incorporate a swaider until you can use the WE steps reliably. I can set the stepss very well, but have decided to forgoe the swaider anyway. I like the simplicty of just the knaider. For me that means getting about 3ft per stepp, so I use 6-7 stepps to climb and an additional 1-2 for a ROS.

Another tip: get a bag bigger than the number of stepps you intend to carry

I bought 10. My plan is to carry 7 into the woods for hunting (6 for climbing w/aider and 1 for perch platform). The remaining 3 I've got attached to a tree in the backyard for practicing.

I personally carry 4 in the woods. I'm at about 20-22 feet to my platform.
But I normally only use 3. I have 5 but I never have the need to get that high.

I got ten but wish I’d gotten 8. I can get up to where my feet are over 20’ high using Knaider and Swaider using FOUR steps. Then I’ve got two or three to make a base around the tree for perch and a couple more stepping points about 120 degrees apart. Knaider/Swaider kit from doublesteps.com (contact Dan at dano@doublesteps.com) are a complete game changer. Check out this video.

This was my second try, first to make sure I could do it, then second to catch the video.

I use 8 steps alone without any aiders or anything and feel I'm plenty high, that's with a perch on the 8th. That said, I plan to get a knaider/swaider to reduce the number of steps I carry because they are somewhat hefty

I carry 8 for the reason Kurt mentioned. Inclines, topography, type of tree - a lot of variables for hang and bang hunting. I like having options when I set up an ambush. I also like having an extra step to augment my predator, depending on shot windows etc. Regarding weight - I can barely tell the difference with a few less steps and I use a modified WE shoulder bag. My two cents.

I am struggling w/ my WE. I hunt oaks a lot here and they will not bite into the bark. Cam each one twice and still have one slip frequently. I really want to like them but not sure they are better than sticks, except for carrying

Mine slip often enough I’ve never taken them out the yard and wouldn’t consider using any aiders. I did stretch them on a tree last night even though they were supposed to be stretched when I got them. I sure hope it fixes things.

I was really close to giving up on my wild edge steps and now I’m glad I didn’t. Keep using them and you will get the hang of them. I use the knaider swaider and it’s easy as can be.7AE8D12C-F2FA-41F1-9DF8-05370CED8CBE.jpeg

I would get 8. You can't buy too many honestly. Sometimes I use only 3 with a 5 step aider, sometimes I use 7-8 with a knaider, and sometimes I use 10-12 with nothing but the stepps. Depends on what I am wearing, what I feel like using, the type of tree I'm hunting, etc. You can climb any huntable tree in the woods with Wild Edge stepps but lots of branches make using add on accessories difficult sometimes. That's when I use more stepps.

I bought the 12 pack with the intention of leaving a few public land presets in select locations. I get slightly more than 4ft per step with a knaider/swaider & set my platform above my top step. Typically end up at least 18-20ft up the tree. I removed the bottom two steps from each location so that I only have to carry two steps into the woods. I kept a total of four steps available for any trips to alternate locations.

I bought 30 when Jim was selling him out of his garage with ropes separate. I bought about 30 more when people sold them for pennies on the dollar because they were impatient with learning to use them. It’s my 4th favorite climbing method, but 15-20 are in my truck at all time in case I want to leave a set. Hands down best for that

I would keep an eye on here if you have a while till you actually need them. You’ll find a deal on some used ones.
