With the hot weather I haven't been seeing much this season. Went out yesterday and got to my tree around 330p. Around 430 deer started coming by... yearling bucks and does. They were all around me for an hour which was starting to stress me out. A doe must have winded me and started blowing and they all ran off.

At 630, this guy came by and gave me a nice shot at 18 yards. He took like 5 steps after the shot.. stopped...and was looking through the trees trying to figure out where I was. He had no idea what happened.

For a second I was like: Did I miss? Then his legs started shaking and he was down. Sure makes recovery easy... (one pic is from my saddle)

Good to be on the board. JX3 + Ravin R10 + Iron Will Fixed Blades

Nice work! That rack is cool, had one somewhat similar in the field behind my house last year and I called him flat top.

Where are you located? Any idea on rough age of that dear? I’m always curious about bucks across the country and different size racks and how they correspond to ages compared to me here in Michigan.

This is in SE PA. There must be some weird genetics in the area...I see some crazy looking bucks. I had some pics of him on the hoof. I'm not real good at aging but my guess is 3.5 y/o

Nice buck! I think there’s something to the theory that deer shot with a sharp, small broadhead don’t run as hard after the shot. I know of 3 other deer this year that took like 10 steps and stopped to die.

Someone else mentioned this to me. I think there is some merit to it....When he ran and stopped its almost like he was just trying to find out where the sound of my bow came from...he didn't even seem to know he was shot.
