I got my Oplux in today. Slapped the Ropeman 1 on it and tried to damage it and tried to get the Ropeman to slip. No Can Do!!
Understandably with considerable slack in the tether and a 3-5 foot free fall things probably wouldn’t end well. But if anyone is looking for supremely packable and manageable rope for tether or lineman’s, is definitely recommend it.

I’m confused. Are you using RM1 with the oplux?

Here's the deal, with a thick enough carabiner it isn't a worry. It isn't about rope thickness it's about remaining travel on the ropeman. Although in this new era of running 6 bridges and 13 tethers backed up by a trampoline I can see people freaking out.

I'm thinking about using this line for my emergency decent system, 40' with a figure 8 or an ATC. Would add a touch over a pound to my pack.

I'm going on record and say'in it is a bad idea to use a rope that is 20% smaller than the manufacture recommendation. It is also a bad idea to recommend it's use to the general public because it sets you at risk for Liability should anyone get injured, or worse result in fatality because they followed your recommendation .

I have been testing with the RM1 on Oplux for my linesman all summer and used it on my first hunt Saturday. I am tying a stopper shorter than usual as @EricS suggests, but I have had no issues with it slipping and it is a calculated risk that I am ok with. I do not use my linesman for life support or fall restraint, only for "light" support while climbing with sticks. I do not use one on installed presets. I use a jammy prusik on my Oplux tether.

I’m going on record saying that you are a big boy that should make big boy decisions beyond the influence or recommendations of other. Have a nice day. Ole Huckster is going to go try to jump through some moving helicopter blades, everyone should join me. It’s great fun.! I recommend it!!!

Since your a "Prostaffer" that represents a saddle company, I would think that in is incumbent to project a responsible image. I would think Tethered would not want to be associated with an insouciant staffer.

It's attitudes and behavior like this that get regulators involved...and no one really wants that.

I’m not typically the back and forth kind of guy and nor will I be with this after this post. Every man or woman here assumes responsibility for themselves. I made a recommendation based on my feelings about a piece of rope. This was my evaluation, NOT TETHRD’s.

I was accused of doing unsafe things in the past that I considered safe and have not had any accidents and was not even close. I would not use a RM1 on a tether since a friction hitch is lighter and simpler. On my linemans belt I use a Tibloc since it is lighter than a RM1 with none of the reported line severing of the RM1. Most people here consider the situation and decide for themselves, or they should. Even using things "as directed" has caused injury.

@huck72412 is kinda the Chuck Norris of the saddlehunter world. The rope will fail if and when he says so. If it fails, he will remain suspended mid-air until he decides to put his spurs back on (at eye level) and safely descend. He only wears the spurs because he likes stabbing trees. If he were to drop a spur, he would descend the tree using his prehensile...tail.

Everybody else would be well advised to respect manufacturer's specs. ;)
