Last season I was using 8mm Predator and a 6mm TRC prusik using the carabiner as a tender.

After several climbs the prusik got so tight I could not adjust it easly.
I then added a tender, which did not help. I changed the linesman to 8mm oplux. And I had the same issue.
I did not have a problem with 9mm HTP and 7mm accessory cord.
I think the problem is the 6mm TRC.
Anyone else have this issue?
Would changing the prusik to a Beal Jammy help?

Keep the same rope combo and change the hitch to a soft stitch. 8mm Predator and 6mm TRC is what I use for both my LB and Tether and the soft stitch has worked flawlessly for both.

That hurt my brain watching that vid, but I am not that smart. :anguished:

I don't think you are getting my question. You thing it's the knot, I think it's the rope.
My Transformer saddle bridge using 6mm Sterling accessory cord (nylon sheath) has zero problems adjusting.

The TRC has a technora sheath that tends to grab and lock down.
The Beal Jammy has a aramid sheath.
Going to give it a try before I go to other knots. May try a Schwabisch hitch.

In my experience the Beal jammy wasn’t as smooth as TRC. However, a prusik will never approach the functionality of a soft stitch regardless of rope combo, even with a tender. You can experiment with other rope types but if you want to save some time and money the combo you have currently will work better with a soft stitch than any combo will with a prusik. I used it all last season. It really is an impressive hitch.

Are you using a prusik hitch knot ? If so, that's the problem.

The Predator is a double braid, usually a little mushy, compared to the very firm HTP, probably causing the different sliding characteristics.
The Beal Jammie has an aramid core, with a nylon cover.

Will the Beal Jammy work better as a prusik hitch on the Predator?

Maybe a little, nylon slides easier, but it is a smaller diameter, increasing the binding possibly. The Prusik can be made to release easier by thumbing the bridge away from the wraps, and then massage the wraps a little before moving. Using a tender doesn’t help, because it is still tight and the legs coming out the side hinders it.
I’m with others, a different hitch is better, which only sees half your weight in this use, lots of choices.

A prusik with 2 very stiff ropes can sorta be ok. A prusik with 1 or both ropes being soft like oplux....always jams tight....in my experience.
