Welcome, North Ga
Born and raised in Cumberland but 90% of my hunting was in PA. What part of MD are you from?Welcome from Maryland! Happy to have you...
Welcome from NC too!As a (kinda healthy ☺) 70 year-old Whitetail hunter, my very recent discovery of saddle hunting has breathed new life and adrenaline into the body. I’ve already watched countless youtube videos and read tons of posts here. It’s mind-boggling that I never knew SH existed until I stumbled upon it when I Googled, “Best tree stand for run and gun hunting.” I was about ready to pull the trigger and order a LW Assault II but decided to sleep on it ‘till morning. That’s all she wrote. All I know for sure is that I‘ll be sitting in a saddle in a tree in three months. When watching some of the videos on how fast and how high one can climb, I have to remind myself to skip membership in that particular club, lol. I’ve already engaged in a few posts and replies here, and it’s refreshing to see the professional knowledge and the courtesy that goes back and forth.
Lol. After 26 years in the Army I was a classroom teacher until I retired in 2015. Teaching virtually wiped out my hunting. When I retired in 2015 I wondered if I was too old to restart. Then, I saw an article and photos of an 83 year-old MI hunter dragging a deer out of the woods. I haven’t looked back since. Figure I can do at least 10 years in a saddle. In fact, after ordering a set of WE steps and thinking I was ready, last night I ordered a MRS (DPT) Kit from WesSpur. Haven’t figured out how to explain to my wife what my new tree stand looks like. Last she knew I was getting a LW Assault.Right on bud I'm 58 and hope I can still do it a 70
East of Baltimore, I have a cabin near Granstville & hunt b/w there & Hancock all the time.Born and raised in Cumberland but 90% of my hunting was in PA. What part of MD are you from?
Lol. Yeah, back when I was 30 I used to carry a long 11mm rope as a deer drag. I used to loop it over a low branch In a tree with a crown of branches and walk myself up, where I could sit on my hot seat. Who knew it would come to this?Welcome from Iowa. I wish I had learned this method of hunting years ago as well.
I moved here in 2000 after hunting most of my life in PA. Bragg is a tough hunt so I spend most of my time on state game land. How long have you been SH? What kind of rig are you using?Welcome from Arkansas ! Just moved here from Raleigh a bit over a year ago...never got the chance to hunt out there - wishing a good season for you!
West end of Fayetteville. Other than a trip back to PA in Oct I spend most of my time on state game land, especially Sandhills.Welcome from the Sandhills. Where in NC?
Welcome from southern Maine! Tons of knowledge and ingenuity on this site. I've learned a lot since coming here and I've been hunting for over 40 years myself.

Agree. I enjoy this sight. Never knew SH existed until it popped up when I Googled “best run and gun tree stand.” I actually cancelled an almost complete order for a LW Assault after reading about SH for several hours.
I lived across the gravel road from Green Ridge State Forest. It was nice to walk out the back door and into the woods. Spent a lot of time hunting the MD/PA line behind the old Shipways on Polish Mtn.East of Baltimore, I have a cabin near Granstville & hunt b/w there & Hancock all the time.
West Fayetteville, two miles from Hoke County. Although I hunt Bragg often and go back to PA every Oct., I mostly hunt NC game land, especially Sandhills.Welcome from the Sandhills. Where in NC?

I would move back in a heartbeat but my wife hates cold weather.Turkey hunting a bunch of days 10-15 mins from there this spring
It’s an hour & 45mins from my drive......... would love to split the difference but it’s not worth the major difference in opinion that discussion leads to......I would move back in a heartbeat but my wife hates cold weather.
This is going to be my first year in a saddle- I'm new to the game. I bought a Mantis from another member here that already had some mods. I'm definitely looking forward to the season and this weekend at the Tethrd training event this weekend.I moved here in 2000 after hunting most of my life in PA.
