I am new to saddle hunting and have been on this Forum for a couple of months, I have found everyone very friendly and extremely helpful, and that is mighty refreshing nowadays. Thank you all for both your help and patience with this old guy .

Me too, almost a decade ago. I felt the "oldtimers" showed great patience with me then and tried to give me positive suggestions as opposed to shaming me for knowing nothing. Great bunch of guys here.

The only other forum that I find similar is when I got into traditional archery and found TradTalk.com. Those guys were just as nice, patient, and helpful.

I agree, AT can be pretty brutal if you are not prepared.

I completely agree. I also like it here more than over on AT. Since this is a much smaller, more niche group than the whole that is AT, I think folks that come here are all looking at, or searching for, the same things originally, and tend to more easily identify with each other.

It was, but I'm over it. Too many OGs with 5 digit post counts thinking they run the show. If you call them out on their BS they go running to a moderator. I'm not interested in playing politics. I go in the woods to escape all that drama.

Agreed, great group of individuals here. Very positive and supporting. Any disagreements are generally civil and self regulate, it’s uncommon a mod has to step in and intervene. We will call you out on anything we deem unsafe, however, because we don’t want to read about your misfortune on Facebook. If nothing else make sure someone is there to take pictures so we can all have a laugh after telling you we told you so. Welcome aboard.

Joined a few months ago and would also agree, very nice folks here. Everyone will help if you ask. I do admin duties on another forum and we rarely have issues either. When you have a good group of folks most of the time things go smoothly.

The moderators here do a great job. Also, there's nothing wrong with members nicely explaining to newer members that "we don't act like that around here" when they pull shenanigans.

They are all nice and friendly until you ask for help NOT to buy gears. Then they are all classified pusher! Trying to get you into trouble with your spouse. Giving you helpful tips like tipping your UPS driver so they know to place package behind garage instead of front door.

@GCTerpfan most often advice is telling your wife that its a law in traditional archery that you're only allowed to kill one deer with a bow, so you need to buy another bow if you want to keep hunting.

That did not work out for me......

You're only allowed to shoot 1 deer per saddle each year too.

It’s a great place and I’m happy I found it! I don’t frequent other forums really. Occasionally the hunting beast, but even that got weird some years ago so I drifted away.

I appreciate the kind and generous people here. Maybe one day I’ll even get to meet a few of you before my times up!

She’s on to that one. Now, I just explain to her that I don’t know how many grandkids I’ll eventually end up with and I need to make sure they each have a bow built by their great grandfather. That one’s still working……so far.
