I really like the idea of adjustable bridge loops on Tethrds phantom. Figured I would run a mock up DIY to see how I could do it. Picked up a pack of 3/4 bumper pads. Will have8 to trim about a 16th off each side to fit them with the 2" seatbelts webbing, but I feel like these will do the trick. Will be including these in my next saddle build for sure.

I like that, I was going to try plastic or rubber balls in one but that looks like it does the trick.

Greg mentioned delrin balls regarding the comfort channels in a video, which I'd never heard of. A few Googles later...

They're little plastic balls you might use as eyeballs if you were sculpting a clay face or doll face. They're solid plastic, light weight and cheap. I'd been wondering if they used metal ball bearings to give the channels structure but didn't like the weight of them. Plastic to the rescue.

I imagine a 1/4" or 1/2" ball, or four, would do the job on each side. Tape them in place then sew securely a cover around the whole saddle loop with stitches between the balls to hold them steady.

The bumpers look easier, honestly. Good job.

Looks great. With all the different threads on here and great DIYers, we have the knowledge to recreate all the new products at ATA before the companies attending the ATA have time to pack their stuff up for the trip home.

Agreed, but I will say there is a lot of value in the testing of processes and quality control that goes into the commercial gear. I'm a tinkerer and get a lot of enjoyment out of making my own versions of stuff, to a fault. Commercial gear is always going to be better, in my opinion.

I am already assembling material for my own DIY Phantom Clone. If you or anyone else happens to find out what size Delrin balls Tethrd used, please let us know. Thanks!

2 inch webbing folded over into 3rds.
1 inch tubular webbing slid over it.
1/2 inch delrin balls snugged in on top.
Stitch through to lock them in place.

I’m just glad to see people tinkering. The DIY spirit will never die!

Even though I make my own saddles now, I still purchased a Mantis to let my friends hunt out of. I will continue to contribute to Tethrd, Trophyline, and other saddle companies when they come out with something cool!
