Advancing your tether while one sticking

Any references on how to tie the ball knot?
Should just be putting a loop over the ball and it’ll stay in place.

I tried a few sets of tether handles and settled on a set made from arrow shafts and paracord.

The arrows and paracord is a great idea! I just 3d printed some hooks to try out and so far they are ok. I also have the tethr locker but wanted to try other things as well.4B299C10-4900-4930-95C2-C6787071531A.jpeg

I like safety. Just don't wrap your fingers around the line behind the tree and keep lineman's up around chest high. Don't worry about the tether while you are correctly ascending with lineman. me demonstrating:
Great video. Very complete and easy to understand. I also use a linemans belt when I one stick. The only things I do different is I tie a catastrophe knot below my Gri Gri (similar device to the Mad Rock) so if the mechanical device should fail, I am not going to the ground. I also attach an auto block to the rappel line below my Gri Gri and connect it to the linemans loop so that if I were to release my brake hand for what ever reason I will not ride the rope to the ground. I have a Gri Gri with an auto lock that does not allow you to descend to quickly. Maybe I am being overly cautious. I am now experimenting with 2 tether climbing and may also use this method. I like the idea of having less slack in my tether and one foot in a loop on the lower tether as kind of a backup. Just my thoughts. Thanks for the video.

You just start with the tail of the bungee under the rope with about 3/8 nub sticking out, wrap the bungee around the rope alternating on each side of the nub. When you have it all wrapped stick the ball through the nub. You can also wrap it around like a prusik. Not hard you will figure it out pretty quick.

Since you shared this with me. Thinking since I already carry trekking sticks. I’m going to fix a pipe to connect mine. I’m 6’2” and can reach 9 feet. I’m thinking I can basically one move the whole set up.
3D printed…fits right over the end. Works great.

You actually use that?
I have one and tried it, but I didn’t care for it. Not afraid to try it again though. I have a new shoulder so hopefully when I’m back in the saddle I won’t have as much trouble

If you're going to buy something, what about a monopod? Theres a variety of lightweight/collapsible ones, and it doubles as a somewhat useful ground hunting tool as well if you gun hunt. But also I'm wondering if just picking up a stick or cutting down a sapling (if legal) accomplishes the same thing without having to carry something

Any of you 3D printing guys ever come up with gizmos to put on the end of a Hooyman pole saw? https://www.hooyman.com/nra/extendable-pole-saw/655227.html I don't always carry one, but the blade is good and a 10' reaching stick is not without value in a tree. I've been trying to figure out what the best material would be for a push/pull hook and a slingshot mount similar to a Notch Bigshot. Maybe something that clamps around the outside instead of going into the insert like the saw does?

I just got the hooyman saw with the 5’extension. It’s kind of heavy, but I carry a lot anyway. I like it and have used it already. It’s definitely well made!
