Advancing your tether while one sticking

That makes total sense as well. I use shock cord (bungee) with a small rounded hook for my tether holder. I see no reason why some stuff bungee with a round button would not work as an easy way to avoid finger pinch as well as avoid unnecessary grabbing of the girth hitch portion
I cant figure out how to make it work right though. If you had a button big enough to have a center bar that say a hair tie could girth hitch through and then the button through the loop it could be carried in your pocket and just looped around each time if you needed. If the tie got to stretched just change the tie out. The button has me buffaloed. With hands open and still against the tree you have balance and mobility.

No. If the squeeze is below your waist line and you have your hands on the side with the green web and brown webbing and hand on the attachment clasp and push down and cut out it prevents it from squeezing. He froze as I was screaming let go of the belt. He was a young kid. Could climb like a squirrel but didn’t know how to react to situations just yet. I used to do demo for buckingham for the company I work at. Had to figure out how they failed.
We were taught never let the squeeze or belt go hip level or below. That way any fall is low fall factoring and the distance is always shorter than from your palm against the lily to your elbow. Definitely bad mechanics

We do walk up in ours but hands free. Being in the mountains we climb allot. Still. Just a matter of the teacher knowing enough to actually be a teacher.

How do you 2t climb without slack? or climb regular sticks?
I just climb sticks with enough slack to go on. With a lineman belt. I actually find one stick less hazardous. I’m fully attached with little slack from ground to ground. I have debated on looking through climbing methods and finding solutions to the hazards then making a video for each. I just don’t want to be a YouTuber or anything like that. I don’t have Facebook or instagram or even Snapchat. I just don’t like the thought of individuals getting hurt while taking bad advice or not understanding climbing fundamentals.

Are you talking about something made similar to those plastic drain stoppers that come with a garbage disposal but would have a loop through the center on the bottom side, that went around the tether rope. To advance, do the Spock with your fingers to catch the piece then work it up with your hands open and flat.

Yes. That. I have the idea but can’t seem to get it made. I want nothing more than hair tie strength because if you do grasp they will break and your fall is still arrested with minimal slack.

I’ve seen a video on a set of straps attached to your tether to use as handles so your not having your fingers getting between the tree and rope but I can’t seem to find it again. Can anyone Direct me in the right direction?
I use Nite ize gear biners. Hook them on each side of your tether, other hook makes nice thumb holes. Work them back and forth while lifting to move the tether up.F8C9B9ED-A8F0-4D54-8395-235409F04C9D.jpeg

The Genesis 3D hooks were out of stock so I bought the hooks from Innovating the Outdoors. I’ve done one or two practice climbs with them and they worked well.

Back on topic I see. I made a few handles out of wire rod and I put one on each side. I’ve also seen guys use a big zip tie and make a loop to use as handles. 2slow, I like that keeper ball too! You can make tether handles in lots of ways using different things…….your on the right track!

Love this idea too! Only thing I don’t like is how skinny point of contact is on the rope. If that hook was clamped on a piece of hose or tubing about 4” or 5” long on the rope, the tether would go up way more easily.

I like those, but I’m thinking about a 2 x 1/2” PVC T fittings with a small handle on each one. Might not even need a handle.
