Aero kestrel bridge

The tight eye eliminates the need for a stop knot at the tag end of the line. My linesmans belt and my tree tether both have Rope man 1's. The tight eye is just big enough to hook onto the carabiner attaching the rope man to the rope. If for some reason the rope man fails, I should only fall a foot or so before that small amount of slack line is taken under tension. Stop knots have the same function, they're just a little bulky.

Got it. gives you built-in redundancy without a hefty knot. I like it, thanks!

So I saw something on aero hunters facebook page which had a bridge done with what looks like sewn Viking loops , I think the tree guys have been doing this for years , couldn't you send out the saddle to wes spur and just have them do a splice on one side and a sewn Viking splice on the other and you have your fixed bridge ? Or maybe they just wont do it ?

That's a great question

I think it could be done , as far as splicing goes I know predator is tough , the tree guys don't like it because the sheath is so tough. If you watch splicing videos ropes like predator are a bit complicated , if you go on Wes spur they have different kinds if splices. I think the guys are unto something here with the w using the straps to find the length you like. That was my complaint w the mantis. which is a great saddle but a pre determined length bridge is not good, because we are all different! They had to do it one way or the other though. I'm still messing with the length on my bridge on my kestrel. It's a bit difficult to get it just where you want it because each time you climb it's a bit different. Diy sportsmen shows the adjustable bridge , someone also posted the pursik knot I think that is the way to go as far as finding the "sweet spot" you like. I also think calling Wes spur is a good idea and ask some questions like how much a viking slice holds ,if it is even a good idea. I mean aero hunter was most certainly looking at the idea in there one post

I have used mine for 2 yrs now, most economical way I've found to avoid those bulky knots.

Hey matt6506
I like your idea for the kite bridge. Think you could send me a picture of the finished product ? Thanks!

Matt’s bridge idea is great. I girth hitched it at first, then switched to an Amsteel continuous loop on one side and a carabiner on the other so I could keep from needing to tuck the bridge in my belt while walking in.

I made a spliced eye tether and linmans rope with the predator first. Not an easy task! My plan was to then move on to the spliced eye bridge. However, I don't believe it is possible to splice both ends on a short bridge sized rope. New plan is to adjust the current bridge until I find the best length for me and then splice in amsteel.

You will still have to sew one side which is fine , it's very strong.

Waiting for mine to get here. I practiced, it is not that hard. I will video doing it to a Kestrel.

I really like the idea of an amsteel bridge, and I have watched G2 outdoors on how to splice amsteel to create a loop from one side, but my question is how to fix the other loop if I have to pull the whole length through to make my brumel for the second loop? How do you do this? Anyone with a vid showing how to connect?

You can't do a locked brummel directly to your saddle on the second side. You can either lock stitch the second side directly to the saddle or you can do a locked brummel like in the video below and connect it with a carabiner.

Hey Matt6506, is there a rating on that rope? Aero Hunter has one just like it in 10mm but says to never use for a bridge?

Nice, I would think a 10mm rope would be rated for more weight, probably a legal thing. Thanks Matt

II have been told that the adjuster on the Petzl Connect adjust is the same as the one used on the adjustable bridge. Let it be known that I dissect these systems and use a proper diameter and rated climbing line as a replacement so if anyone attempts this please test low and slow.

Have any photos or more info in this? I ran a petzl connect with my RCH and wondering on how I can repurpose it with my new saddle.

The Petzl Connect is smaller, comes with 9 1/2 mm rope, the bridge adjuster is bigger, has 11 mm.
