So...been at this for about an hour. One of you guys have to know....how do you attach this aider through the holes of a double step using girth hitches. Screenshot_20210404-221917_Gallery.jpg

Use a larks head. Basically push the looped end through and put the rope through the loop and pull tight. Take the loose end and push through the other hole, then put the rope AND step through the loop, pull tight.

Tried it. First one works great. When I do the second I end up with this and cannot pull tight. Screenshot_20210405-080713_Gallery.jpg

Put the whole metal part through the open loop.

I might be way out in left field here with this recommendation. So I can take the beating if necessary.

Why not cut both loops, then tie a scaffold or poachers knot through the holes on both sides of the step?

I don’t disagree with what you’re saying but I do have a question.
The bridge on my saddle is made of Amsteel how do you tie a stopper not on there if you’re not supposed to tie knots on amsteel?
Call that manufacturer and ask them...I don't use amsteel like that so I can't comment.

I don't think it can be done like that. I've heard this here/experienced it before and just tried it with paracord and some holes cut in paper, it unties itself.

I would splice one side, do your girth hitch, leave the other side not spliced, trace the end of the unspliced line around to make your girth hitch shape, and then splice it into itself to finish it. To do the final splice, I would bury a long section and then use zing it to sew the splice.

Easier idea than my first one

Do two separate amsteel pieces with spliced loops, girth hitch each, then splice the ends hanging down together.

That would allow you to brummel locks everywhere and avoid sewing your splice, but would require an added splice at the bottom where your foot goes.

If you use 2 separate pieces of amsteel, you could also do away with the girth hitches by splicing each loop with the step inside the loop and then splicing the 2 loose ends at the bottom.

Outside the box here...

Just drape the aider over the steps between the 2 outermost holes. Run a small zip tie from one hole to the other and just snug it up so that it holds the aider in place and keeps it from falling off of the ends of the step.

Off-road recovery companies have soft shackles for ideas and try splicing continuing loops or splice eye loops on a piece of load bearing cordage at both ends.

^^^ Wow
That makes it look easy...

I had to watch 'The Amsteel Guys' video about 15 times to get that right...
Men are stupid. Hahaha
