Alone [don’t read this thread if you don’t want a spoiler]

I love the show. I've seen every episode of every season. But is it just me or is this season a little less interesting? Maybe the current cast is less skilled at filming?
I do think the woman is making a big mistake with her hodge podge lodge. Overkill for sure. She needs to produce food, not build a palace with 7 foot ceilings.
I said the same thing to my wife. She’s going to have this great shelter and not be able to live in it because she’s going to tap for lack of food.

What kind of place prohibits hunting squirrels? Never heard of such a thing.

That wormy bird was pretty gnarly.

Thanks for the update but I hardly watch any tv anymore. I will try and watch Alone though if I think about it.

Dang. It didn't pop up on my watch list even though it has in the past. Maybe I lost that channel....

Curious how he lost his quiver.

I dunno. I can't think how, even with a strap on, that you would not realize it was coming off.

The quiver must have had only
one strap or whatever holding it on. It was not a back or hip, cause he looked at the bow and freaked.

His other mistake was putting ALL 9 of his arrows in the quiver....

The edit is weird. He had a slight freak out when he realized, then it shows him at his shelter almost crying. You know he had to try his best to retrace his steps. Still can't figure out how the quiver fell off and also, why was he carrying all nine arrows. 2 big game and 2 grouse arrows at the most. Can't put all your eggs in one basket.

So, I'm curious... what order of priority are you guys taking if you're out there? I get the need for food.. but at my size I'd last a while with slim pickings. But these people know winter is coming fast! End of episode 2, and I'm blown away that some barely have done anything towards their long term shelter, 8-10 days in!
To me, I think it would be best to set up a gill net, a couple snares or dead fall traps, hunt a couple hours a day for small game... but while I have energy to burn, build my shelter!

I would be doing what you are saying in the last paragraph. Getting my shelter built first. The thing is about this show is it shows you how small decisions can change the course of life. All arrows in a quiver, not going back for your trail markers, choosing to put moss on top of your smoker...

Also this group seems to have the attitude of I've been doing this all my life so I got this... which can produce a somewhat careless? or overconfident attitude about how they handle things.

Nature does play an active part and so do their bodies, as in Mikey last week. Those 2 things are unknowns they have to deal with also.

Great show

I don't know if anyone here would be interested but this is kind of a behind the scenes view of one of season 10's contestant. Jodi Rose sent a letter to Jerry Wigutow (Wiggy) regarding her participation in season 10 using Wiggy's sleeping bag. Jerry printed the following in his June 14th news letter:

I took your sleeping bag on History Channel's Alone season 10 and it saved my life. Thank you.
Jodi Rose

On May 31, 2023, I received the above email from Jodi and I wrote back asking if she would tell me more and the following is what she wrote.

Jodi Rose 45, is a Seasoned entrepreneur and Survivalist from Worland, WY. She first burst onto the scene as one of the ten contestants on the 10th season of Alone.
Jodi whose hometown is Worland, WY grew up in the rugged mountains of Wyoming, where she had the rare opportunity to connect with nature and use what nature had to offer. Jodi had a love for all things self-reliance from childhood, due to the influence of her farming parents and grandparents. The experience Jodi had with her parents helped her gain the skills to survive and thrive in the wild.
Jodi’s parents were contracted fence builders and guides, and they got jobs that took them to various parts of the wilderness of Wyoming. Jodi had to spend most of her childhood and teenage years on the back of a horse, following her parents from one adventure to the next, all over the state. Jodi’s parents utilized this time to teach Jodi and her siblings the skills of bushcraft, wilderness survival, and self-reliance. All these lessons weren’t a big deal to Jodi because her love for the wilderness and animals came naturally and began at a tender age. This made her way to Alone a walk in the park.
Apart from Jodi’s love for nature, she was blessed to have a partner and a family of her own. Jodi and Frank were lucky enough to bear the fruits of the love they had for each other by having five adorable children: Zak, Klayton, Josie, Josh, and Isaac. Jodi’s children were raised on the family ranch in the middle of the Wild River Indian Reservation.
Jodi and her husband, Frank, continued their traditional duty of teaching self-reliance and living off the land to their five children, as their past generations did. Jodi made it a norm that her family lives in the wilderness of the Rocky Mountains for five months a year, while the rest of the year they work at their family business building epoxy tables and furniture.
Jodi’s passion for living on the land and connecting with God through Mother Nature gives her the charisma to learn new skills and always test her self-reliance. All this will happen in northern Saskatchewan on Season 10 of Alone.
That's the short version of my life but sums it up pretty well.

Now as for your sleeping bag.

I knew that going on Alone meant they would drop me somewhere with near negative 60 degree temperatures. With this in mind I knew that my only chance at survival was to have the best and warmest sleeping bag made. I did much-needed research and found Wiggy’s.
It didn't take me long after being dropped in Northern Saskatchewan to realize that I made the correct choice by purchasing and bringing my Wiggy’s sleeping bag. The temperatures plummeted shortly after my drop and the nights were bitterly cold. With truly little as shelter, I stayed toasty warm every night in my Wiggy’s sleeping bag. If it weren't for my Wiggy’s sleeping bag, I would not have lasted a week in Northern Saskatchewan. It truly is the best bag made.
Thank you Wiggy’s!¡
All the best,
Jodi Rose, Season 10 of Alone.
Thank you, Jerry,
Let me know if you need anything else and feel free to edit my story to fit your newsletter.
Thank you for the best bag ever made!!
Smiles

It has come to my attention more and more of the contestant are using my bags. The reality is I believe is because the Lamilite is resistant to water so they can stay drier and therefore warmer. There are obviously more reasons but you know that as well!
We have to watch the program to see how see fared, as I do not know so I'll be watching as well. But I do think she has a leg up on those who do not have a Wiggy's bag!!!

Wiggy's Signature

Alone
Watching last night, I saw two others using a Wiggy’s bag aside from Jodie. The guy from Hawaii and the guy from Ga. The chances of one of these three people winning using a Wiggy’s bag would be terrific.
I was also informed that one guy was using a Snowy Owl, a down bag and was never warm. I am not surprised, here is why.
The ground several contestants said was my word spongy. That tells me it was like tundra filled with moisture. This is a very wet environment and I was told everything up there was wet. Any and all materials that absorb moisture will absorb the moisture and it will never dry. All of what you wear is forever absorbing your sweat so what you are wearing gets heavier. The down in the sleeping bag was absorbing the moisture from the atmosphere as well as the user’s body. The presence of all of the moisture was now absorbing the heat from the occupant of the bag.

Here is a quote from Jodie

“Thank you so much for the info! And yes, everything was wet up there. Also, I have your fish net jacket or sweater and I have your gators and I also have your boots. I love Wiggy’s. I will be getting more items when I get a chance. I also took your gators on Alone but they wouldn't let me take the insulation part. I wore them and they kept my legs completely dry. Due to so many restrictions they wouldn't let me take the fishnet Sweater or the boots”.
