Alpaca Socks

I use altera alpaca socks for everything. Lifetime warranty. Been holding up extremely well. Washing machine and dryer or air dry. Can't compare because I haven't used Merino because on paper alpaca is superior so I started with them.

I have “alpaca of montana” socks and sizing is pretty true if not a hair snug. They’re durable like wool. I don’t wash mine that frequently (ozone instead) and they’re doing fine.

My get get cold so I’ve tried everything I would say these are best, followed by the “my heater” socks.

Are the Alpaca socks the real deal? Anyone that uses them are they warmer than wool? And how about durability,
washing and drying, etc.

I really like mine from Warrior Alpaca. I have a mid weight and also their heaviest (toasty toes). Definitely warmer than merino (to me). Unlike wool, it is classed as a hair and is hollow. I think I remember it being 25% warmer than wool.

Warrior Alpaca cautions against going for 100% alpaca because they don't hold their shape.

I wash mine on delicate in a small laundry bag and then hang to dry. Going strong for 2 years.

It is slightly itchier to me than merino but not bad at all (as in if it was right against your skin and your feet were sweaty you might get an occasional twinge to itch but nothing like regular wool), very soft. I always wear liner socks, so it doesn't bother me.

I think they are.
Ive used merino wool for forever and I like them but the 2 pair of alpaca socks I have are better.
I also got alpaca insoles and my feet have never been more comfortable.

Do they get stinky? I love how merino wool doesn’t get gross after 16 hours in waterproof boots.
After going my whole life in cotton athletic socks, wool was a hell of an improvement to warmth and sweat/ funk issues.

I have a pair and I seldom use them. I switched back to my Merino wool. They just didn't seem to keep my feet as warm as my wool socks do.

I have not had stink foot with mine. Bit I'm really meticulous with foot and boot care so that may contribute to the lack of stench.

Do they make any lightweight ones? I just prefer thinner socks.

Alpaca long underwear would be nice

Alpacas are like weird sheep things that adapted to mountain tops

Not surprising their fur is so warm

Don’t remember brand but mine have been treating me well. Liner socks then alpaca socks go over.

What are you wearing as liners? I've thought about trying that method but I've been pretty good with just lightweight wool socks now. Just not sure if I walk a few miles if my feet will blister or not.

Bought a couple sets of liner socks from cabelas and put First Lite merino socks over them. That combo has been the most successful for me...I will say that I have zero experience with Alpaca though

Just some cheap ones from Amazon. Surprisingly makes a difference and I have noticed less sweaty/clammy feet. I also wear uninsulated boots and boot blankets (I don’t put them on right away, maybe after an hour in the tree). This has been the best combo for me in MN.
