Alternative to Tethrd HYS Strap?

Walmart has similar straps too.

Do the loops lay flat when the back band stretches tight?
If it's like the daisy chain I had from EWO yes they lay flat when tight against the tree because there's no extra length on the loop like the HYS strap.

I've always liked just wrapping my lineman belt with s biners and a few small carabiners for hanging my gear.

Nothing extra to drag in the woods, nothing to forget or pack, once I'm at height and on my tether I hang it, then I undo my gear first before coming down so i have it when I'd need it.

This is a pro tip.

Super easy to make your own. Buy webbing 2 1/4 times the length you want the final strap. Simple straight stitches every couple of inches to create the loops. Leave one end free and voila, you have a daisy chain. Add a G-hook and it's adjustable very easily. Not suitable for body weight but more than sufficient for gear. If you want to support body weight, make bar tacks for every loop instead of straight stitches.

Anyone know a good place to get g hooks. Buying them on tethrd seems pricey when factoring in shipping. I can find cheaper stuff on Amazon but then I worry about strength.

I'll just leave this here. Wish I had know about it sooner.

I dig that. I like my hys strap but the way his packs down is slick.

I bought 1inch G-hooks off amazon for <$1 each (10 pairs, left and right, for $15). I'm not using them for any actual load-bearing so I don't care about their strength. I use them for leg loops and for my gear sling(s), which only carry a fairly light load. As long as they're not defective and they're metal, they'll be strong enough to hold 20-30 pounds of gear (assuming a heavy pack) hung on a sling.

When I get my new bowtech (on order), I'm gonna do something like this

but instead of doing it at the rest, I'm gonna use one of the holes on the top of riser that bowtech includes so you can screw in those little orbit dampers into the riser. That'll move the center of mass to below the support and make it almost impossible to bump off and position it so I don't have to rig a cord to hold it (seems sketchy).

Any ideas for an alternative or DIY copycat of the Tethrd HYS Strap? I’m looking for a system just to hang a backpack and weapon. It looks like a great product and I’ve heard it highly recommended. I realize webbing and thread for stitches have a cost if I were to sew my own, but I wonder if it could be replicated for less than $38 (Tethrd cost + S&H).

A G hook does not cost much. Webbing is cheap. Try strapworks.com. I made my own, my wife sewed it for me. I use Sbiners, a hero clip, and a couple plastic carabiners for stuff I hang up.

Here's what I did for a bow/crossbow hanger. A simple piece of 7/16" cheapo plywood scrap and some carbon fiber scraps from making my stick. Slots into one of the gear loops and cantelevers against the tree when weighted. Plenty of clearance for my bow limb or the stirrup on my crossbow. Works pretty well with a rifle sling, also.

First test run. Tested it out before I put the CF on it. I've since swapped out the carabiner for a g-hook on my gear sling. I think it took about 20 minutes to make the sling. 6 1/2 feet long with gear loops for about 5 1/2 feet of that length.

Sling cost about $3.
