Made some 3 step aiders with 1/4 fuel line for the steps ,19" steps . Locked brummels to slip over we step standoffs . It was a waste of time for me ,steps were spaced way to far ,the fiddle factor was insane ,i couldve been up and down the tree with a knaider / swaider .but i was looking for something to keep a leaner profile going up the tree ,to where the knaider i gotta lean pretty far back .any one use aiders on we steps what is the step rise

I wouldn’t go past 14/15” between aider length especially in winter where heavier clothing is involved and I apply this to regular sticks as well. I make and use 3 step aiders and I find this length to be near perfect. I can step over 20” even with my short legs but the 14/15” rules apply that’s my opinion tho. Make a 3 step aider for your WE step then climb and attatch your next WE with 3 step as your standing on your top step. You will find 3 to 4 steps will get you up a good height

Hey Razarbak66, do you have any pictures you could share ?
I have 8 pack of Wild edge steps that I've hunted with several times
this season and have mixed thoughts about using them.
I purchased a swaider with a rubber coated s hook and tried to climb
but that presented a whole lot of issues. I got so feed up that I bought
4 beast mini stick to finish the season out. I do like the advantage of
the steps that you could off set placement of steps to maneuver around
tree branches or around a leaning tree. Thanks !

I don’t have any on my phone at the moment but if you use amsteel you can girth hitch it to your WE steps easily and add another couple steps to it as well. I make and use webbing that I sew up and can slip them onto my one stick set up or I make a ultimaider with the same concept 14/15” stepping. To do the amsteel set up @Red Beard has a thread and directions on how to make multiple steps or his scout platform climb this can be applied to the WE steps very easily

Thanks I will give that a try. I found that the steps have been giving me fits on caming over.
I hung them on tree when I first got them and left them there for a week to help stretch ropes out.
Some steps after caming over move and squirm under weight while climbing. Kind of a fine line to
get the proper tension of steps to cam over and remain secure.

It takes a little practice caming them over I got my OG from Jim stepp many many years ago and use them for a period and I can get it perfect half the time but with these new ropes they work better. Yes stretch them out but practice practice they will work and with aiders they really shine

In my opinion after having a set for 2 seasons...the best results come from 1/8 amsteel rope to replace the original rope. Much easier because of almost no stretch and it slips until it locks so minute adjustments are easy. Plus it takes up less space.

Hey thanks for the suggestion, I replaced the straps and buckles on the beast sticks I just bought with amsteel.
I wish I would have bought more than the 40 ft .

was this a 19" step with the aider laid flat on the floor and no weight on it?

if so, i'm guessing when you step into it and it folds up along the sides of your foot, then it suddenly becomes over a 2 foot step
