I’ve searched on the forum, but can’t seem to find what I’m looking for.

I’m trying to find a how to in order to make amsteel daisy chains to use on hawk helium’s and my ridge runner platform. If anyone can help, that’d be awesome

I learned from @BCHunter 's video here.

Here is the one that I watched and made mine off of. Once you get the gist of it they are really simple to make. They do take some time though to make.

It’s great on the sticks, I could never get it to work well on my ridge runner. Doesn’t seem to get tight enough.

I appreciate the videos everyone! I’ll be trying it out.

Next question, is there a reputable dealer to order from or size to look for?

The purple sized aluminum knitting needles from Walmart (color coded by size) worked great for 1/8" amsteel as a fid (just cut and use a file to clean up sharp edges). It helped to wrap the very end of amsteel (both free ends) with masking tape. This helps you put the end of the amsteel into the fid without fraying up the amsteel. Other than that, I went off Paul's video linked above.

@DanO sells it by the foot, doesn’t get more reputable than that

I just made a daisy chain out of 1/4" winch rope, looks just like black amsteel. not quite as strong, but 6500# should do it. Plus it's not PPE. I am using it on my predator P. I never liked that clunky two handed buckle contraption they put on it. Plus at times their webbing is too short it's 6' - just. No noisy heavy buckle. The daisy chain works really well, even though in many trees, one link is not quite long enough and the next a bit too long. Just go with the two long link, set the platform as hard as you can while folded up, stand on it if you can. Then unfold, works super. Keeps the bat wing dug into the tree. Very solid. The buckle was never great for getting it tight anyway. It still all counted on the set. And the chain is much easier, faster, and lighter than the buckle. The daisy chain is also much easier to wind up and store with one link on the bat wing and the rest back the other way and coil it around the bundle you made.
