Amsteel Multi Step Aiders

I am planning to make a soft aider as well for my Helium 20" that should be arriving next week. I was initially thinking tubular webbing. Is there an advantage to the Amsteel over webbing of is it just preference?

I'm ready buddy but the rain is keeping me from a tree. :(
I searched this topic and didn’t expect to find anything. Brilliant! So, I’m an old Senior hunter new to saddle hunting. I’m the furthest thing from being a DIY guy, so I’ll ask you this question. Is it practical and safe to think one could attach an Amsteel multi step aider to a platform of WE Steps or other strapped devicesbeing used as a platform? Anything specific that would make the idea either practical or unsafe?

Err... I have no experience with a WE Perch and couldn't say for sure.

I will say this though, the camm over for a OOAL Solo Scout situates pressure on two 5 inch lines of toothed aluminum whereas the same camming on a WE step rests pressure on three pegs (triangular shape)...

I tried WE steps with a knaider a year ago and always felt like the method was dicey due to that lower point of the triangle wanting to kick out if my climbing form wasn't just right.

Thank you

I really like this DIY ladder aider, definitely going to put one together this off season.

Sure thing! Originally made this one for my one stick, but then modified the attachment method for my Solo Scout. The whole thing packs up nice and neat.

I put a brummel in either end of a section of 3/16. The end loops have a bit if webbing over them for abrasion resistance since I initially designed it to be removable from the stick. Then I made two continuous loops (although now, I'm convinced you could use a loop of TRC with barrel knots or something of the like). Then I wove the loops onto the main line at a spacing appropriate for my gait. Attachment method below is the same for each side of the continous loop.

thoughts on this design with 1/8 instead of 3/16. I have 75 feet of 1/8 but wasn’t sure if it would be strong enough for this design. I need to make 3 three step aiders so making a daisy chain like your new workhorse is out of the question because if I am going to order more to do that I might as well buy 3/16

Can't make a recommendation related to carrying power buddy. Use what you're comfortable with. The smaller you go, the more it'll bite into the arch of your foot when you step on it. I imagine toward 7/64 would be pretty painful.

I've done one steps aiders using 7/64 and it was fine. But I weight slightly more than a wet leaf. I was more concerned about the way the rope went through the step on the beast sticks I was using and causing wear than the arch of my feet. I was never on the aider long. I used this tutorial from @AJ Wright :

I understand. I took the 1/8 continuous loops and ran them through hose so it would be better on the feet. I know knots will reduce strength, but was planning to run the ends of the loops through the main line like you did in the photo. Only way to know if it will hold is to make one and test it on in ground level, that and dropping 30-40lbs before next season will make me more comfortable too!
