Finally the weather and my time to hunt lined up perfectly and I made the 10 hour drive to camp. Day one was filled with activity, bucks chasing does who just want to grab an acorn. I'm hunting out of my new ESS and am very pleased . At 8:30 this fat doe came in by her self and I made a good 16 yard shot with my longbow. She ran just over 65 yards before making her slide of death.Doe21 (2).jpg

Day 2 was cool with a good south wind. Unlike the day before the deer seemed to be locked down. At 8 I jingled my rattling horns with no response. 15 minutes later I repeated and added a single wheeze. In less than a minute I heard a buck thrashing a small oak. The dry leaves made an incredible racket. I spotted the bucks legs at 50 yards as he worked over the oak. He charged in and locks up facing me at 17 yards completely blocked by a large limb that runs parallel to the ground. I hooked my right foot under a step and leaned over so that I was able to shoot under the limb. A hard position to hold but after several aching minutes he took a couple steps to his left opening up his rib cage and I zipped an arrow under the limb and getting a complete pass through though I was not sure I could get to full draw from that position. All was quiet as I reminded my self that shots like that are why I have hunted from a saddle for the past 40 seasons. He only ran 60 yards ,Monster1 (2).jpg

What a beauty! Congrats on your success my friend!

I'll have to move some from my phone. He had 10 pts on his right and 12 on his left. I had a tough time with pics as the shadows played heck. Self pictures with a phone is tough. I used to be quick enough to hit the button and jump in the picture.

That my friend is an absolute colossus of a buck!! Awesome work!! Congrats.

Monster3.jpg Here is the best pic I could take. The shadows were bad and if I drug it to the sun I had nothing to tie my phone to.

Congratulations on a darn good trip to camp.

Is there sumthin' up with the doe's eye?

I have 2 tags left. Not sure how motivated I am at this point. I can't explain it but I feel like I'm done. I'm sure I'll get over it.
