Annihilator broadhead any shooters?

I stand corrected. The set I picked up were used for target practice and came to me pretty dull. I got them to slice through paper easy and called it good. I'll give it another go, see if I cant get them to that point.

I used this method, but diamond stones instead of a knife steel after the mill file.

Not a fan. I killed 2 deer last year with them and had poor blood trials with the standard head. Both were double lung pass through shots.

I did like how quiet and accurate they were. I don’t think there is a more durable head either. If I were you I would get the larger version in hopes of better blood or shoot QAD’s.

What were the tracking jobs like?

First was a doe. She ran down a hill then up and over another ridge about 150yds. Not much for blood at all. I was better off tracking prints which I did to find her. Second was a decent buck. I was on my hands and knees following 1/8” spots of blood. I literally found a shed while on the ground trailing this buck. The deer only went about 70yds.

Both were dead as a post with double lung pass throughs but I wasn’t thrilled with wounds.

The buck I shot 2 weeks ago with a QAD Exodus made it about 60yds and the blood trail was the best I have had in quite a while.

The good- easy to sharpen and was made to reuse over and over again. They do group very well even at longer yardage 60-80.
The bad- the shape /design pushes the air instead of cutting threw it if that makes sense. Very loud because of this. If u shoot big vanes like blazers u might not notice because your arrow is already loud. They drag so much wind that they impact about 7 inches lower then other fixed heads at 60 yards. If u sight in with these heads u will be fine but the noise alone kept me from hunting with them so I have no input on what they actually do to deer.

This doesn't give me the warm fuzzy's as the ones I picked up are the originals not the XL. I might put these on the back burner and pull them out late season so I have snow on the ground for tracking.

I have to disagree with about bloodtrails and them not getting sharp. First, blood trails are unpredictable, regardless of broadhead. View attachment 72379View attachment 72380

I got my Annihilators shaving sharp w/mirror finish and it didn’t take long. All on flat grinding methods, no 344 sharpeners. These heads are definitely not gimmicks.
Bloodtrails are very unpredictable. But out of 6 deer shot with those, not one had a bloodtrail that was making anybody say "wow". And the advertising made it seem like there was going to be a faucet opened up on the deer.

Surprised you were able to get them shaving sharp honestly. I got mine mirror finish too (400g, 800g, 1000g, strop) and it would catch hair but not clean shave like a 2 blade. Thats impressive. I guess i didnt go long enough in the lower grits and went to the strop before i had a good burr or something. i dunno. They are made out of some crazy strong steel i'll give em that.

Even with both of those things cancelled out, the noise is what ultimately removed them from my hunting arrows. Like shooting a nerf whistle ball compared to my solid 2 blades. Even the old Montecs weren't that loud.

I posted this in another thread, but I was able to use the annihilator tonight on a meat buck:

- Hard Quartering Away Shot, 17 yards
- Entry tucked behind the shoulder, exit out the opposite side chest
- Bloodbath, red carpet treatment. I believe I obliterated the top of the heart where all the veins meet, cause the heart was perfect
- 60 yard constant blood trail

these things seem like stabbing a deer with a sharpened spoon (ala' prison shank)....maybe i'm wrong but they seem like they are trying to be unique simply for its own sake

Punched a doe with 125g last weekend. Went right through. I read a lot of guys didn’t get great blood trails. I didn’t get a great trail (mid lung)but it cut through bone and she was piled up. Here is entrance wound
