Been thinking about heated socks. Seen these guys at the ATA. Kind of non-intuitive name for cold weather gear…LOL
I have some heavy alpaca and merino as well as merino moisture wicking socks. After a while my feet just cold. My feet sweat even in fabric tennis shoes.Heavy alpaca socks is where it’s at.
I sure wouldn't want to wear them in lace up boots. I'd want to be wearing slip on boots that I could remove quickly!
Maybe I should look at something like Wiggy’s Lamilite socks instead? All of my socks are Merino or Alpaca, but my feet get cold.
You don’t have to have the latest and greatest bow, platform, saddle…cameras whatever.
I am fully persuaded if you are going to spend good money on anything that quality clothing and footwear would be the place to spend money. Being able to persevere hard hunts in the elements is something that actually makes you a better hunter.
I would just go boot blankets with Hot Hands Super Warmers in them. No need to get potentially uncomfortable or sweaty socks, which I suppose you could just not wear when walking in. The boot blankets work so well that your feet will be about as warm as sitting in your house. The key is to put them on before your feet start to get cold. I put them on immediately when I get settled and my feet just never get cold.
I wear a Minus 33 merino liner sock and a heavy Alpaca Sock over that when it’s cold.PS....are you wearing a liner sock? are your boots tight? I spend a lot of time finding a boot fit that is comfortable for the various thickness of socks I'll wear with that particular boot. In the cold, I always wear a synthetic liner sock and then a thick alpaca sock and make sure I can wiggle my toes. A lot of guys loosen their boots on stand, but I haven't done that yet.

There is some room in the boot. However, my Mucks tend to rub my heels when traversing hills because of being upsized.
It’s hard to find the perfect combination of fit and function.
I wear a size 10. So size up from that?Check out Warrior Alpaca Toasty Toes...and I'd probably recommend the largest size they make, unless you wear under a size 10. I have Hollow brand and much prefer the Warrior ones.
