Anybody cut their U.P. Platform yet?

Thinking it could get about 8-10 inches of extra height per move if this portion is cut away to let the stick advance farther up while still being held in place by the tether. Seems like it would still be structurally sound. Thoughts?

I wouldn't cut it, but I don't put the stick under the rope to hold it anyway. I advance the stick as high as I can without passing the sinched part around the tree.

I've experimented with offsetting it like that to get it higher. It made the first step or two of the next move a bit awkward for me. Hard to beat the tether holding it in place directly in front of me.

Maybe add some reinforcements if needed, but I really don't think they would be needed looking at this structure. And a new rope groove on the new hold point, of course.

Not sure how you do it, but i stand on the platform to raise my tether as high as i can get it (linesman belt tight and above waist level, of course). I have to let out some slack to reach down and release the stick rope, but i still only need two moves to get to hunting height. its high enough that i need the bottom step of my aider. Good luck

For less than a foot per move, I don’t see where it would be worth the trouble. You might want to also check with EWO and see how advisable this would be, structurally speaking.

No but I cut a monarch.

Has it rocked your world? Or not worth it?

It hasn’t rocked my world. I hunted most of last season off the cut monarch. It allows me to get a little higher with each move. Two moves up the tree after initially putting the stick on from the ground gets me 20 ft. With my uncut monarch or the LP I am 18.5-19 ft ish. Those are on perfect limbless trees which I rarely climb.
