Anyone else ever stumble across the ridiculous flashlight hobby?

I agree the lanterns are great for tracking. The color definition of the light is super to alot of flashlights. These days you can get into the different color temp lights. A High cri or warm/neutral tint beam in the small hand helds will be very similar light quality to the old lanterns. A 1000 lumen neutral tint flood beam handheld is much easier to pack and not having to go the the truck or house to get it is a big plus. The only issue is having spare batteries on hand. My floody 18650 flashlight lights up a 20 plus foot swath of ground with nice even good tinted light.

For blood tracking purposes only I'd be willing to bet all these super bright lights wont hold a candle to an old fashion lantern. Maybe something about the light spectrum lantern throws...I don't know, but I would challenge u (if u got a lantern laying around in ur camping gear) take it with u next time and side by side compare. U might be surprised.

Just general need for a flashlight then those super brights are awesome. My friend has 1 and it is crazy bright. I only carry a cheap headlamp and little single AA flashlight as a backup... Never felt I needed anything like what u guys are talking about.

I wish I wouldn’t have seen this...

Me too. As if I don’t already have an unreal amount of money tied up in rope and climbing sticks. Might as well add another category to my collecting/hoarding.

I don't have super duper bright flashlight - Streamlight is kind of my go to for standard use flashlights. I do have some (not very bright) collectible weaponlights though.

Steiner MP5 Foregrip (nicer than the Surefire ones because they clear suppressors)
Insight LAM1450 for HK Mark 23
Insight/HK MkII UTL for USP (got a few of these)

You have fine taste in HK's sir. Streamlights also tend to be better for duty type lights as the user interface is simple and clean. Most of my lights run Anduril UI, not the simplest to make things happen quickly but fun to play with.

Looking for a new headlamp that is lighter weight but yet rechargeable for a pack on elk hunt. I would prefer an option for red or green light function for when bright light isn't needed. Thanks

I just got a fenix hm65r for that type of hunting. It doesnt have the color lights but has a flood beam and a spot beam. Very impressed with it so far but havent used it enough yet to confirm run times at different settings. It charged quickly using my anker core.

Thanks. I started a new thread so I didn't hijack this one. I was actually looking at that 1.

My big gun that stays in truck or on bike for tracking jobs gone wrong or other disasters that might require it be daylight to be effective.

my everyday carry for hunting. Going on two seasons with no issues. I’ve yet to need more than the headlamp while hunting camping tracking etc. it’s awesome. I use it on low for 90% of walking and climbing and general activities. Medium if I need really high detail or tracking. Ultra low for walking open roads amd trails, packing up at tree or setting up at height.

She's a pretty one.

Wait until you get something with an Anduril UI.

You wanting a dedicated thrower? It's hard to beat a Convoy C8+ with an osram led for a thrower and they are pretty inexpensive.

You looking for a throwy red? Floody red? Kind of a an all around red?

Yeah I'll look into that.

Looking for a combo headlamp with a floody red. Like if the zebralight had a red it would be even better. I need a red headlamp when hunting and especially when fishing because it preserves my night vision.

This little guy came in today. 1250 lumens, 95 CRI, size of my thumb. Going into the EDC rotation
