Anyone ever used gator glide on their boat or pirogue?

Just a shot in the dark has anyone ever used gator glide or substance like gator glide on their boat or pirogue and was there a noticeable difference? I have an old pirogue that is starting to get alittle rough on the bottom and wanting to coat it to cut down on resistance and extend the life of the boat.

I watched a couple of YouTube’s and wanted to put some on mine but didn’t feel like going through the trouble of getting it off the trailer and flipped over.

I put some on my 1038 Jon boat I love it! Super slick and yes it made a difference just seems to glide so much better on the water. Five coats is best like they say and its holding up good so far but its only been a year but to me it was worth the time and money.

What was the prep like for aluminum? Did you have to etch the bottom at all or were you able to get by with just sanding?

I did my old Lund with goop coat it and have been happy, it’s been a few years now and has held up good. Believe it’s an epoxy reinforced with Kevlar fibers.

I sanded, hit it with alumabrite and etched it with an acid for prep

Built a Longtail winter before last and used Gator Glide. Started out with a new 1448 G3 and just gave it a good sanding then cleaning per instructions. Prep on any paint job is key. Wish I would have taken all the paint off instead of just the thin spots. Our East Tennessee rivers are mainly rocks and it sure proved how important prep work is, several spots popped the Gater Gide off but not the base coat. I would also run it up higher on the sides and do the whole transom, it truly helps sealing in those rivets if you have any. But yes, it is slick as snot and won’t grab like aluminum will on rocks, it’s amazing over vegetation,
