Just moved up to Mechanicsville, VA. Gonna be working at Fort Lee. Going to start hunting there this week. Wanted to see if anyone else on here is hunting around on Lee or in the area?

Matt, I'm in the Ashland area but have some property near Fort Lee that I hunt. Never hunted on Fort Lee. I haven't actually Saddle Hunted before either, but very interested in getting into it, as my legs always go to sleep sitting in tree stands.

Nice man i could show you what its all about before you dive into it. Been doing it for a few years.

Have you tried any of the WMAs in the area, just found out about a few new ones in Caroline, I might check out in the next couple of weeks.

Live/hunt in Prince George, work in Mechanicsville. Never hunted Fort Lee, but my in-laws used to live just outside the back gate on Allin Rd., and I hunted that property. Our place is about 3-4 miles from there.

I had a friend stationed there about 10 years ago who hunted it. I never felt like bothering to jump through the security hoopla to get in.
Dixiebowmen archery club is down that way as well. They hold monthly 3D shoots that are fun. They will start up again in January.

What part of Mechanicsville? I use to live out there, now on the west end of Henrico, on the Goochland line. Never hunted Fort Lee, but have hunted Powhatan WMA, and Cumberland State Forest, as well as come private land here and there. Welcome to the RVA area. As for Archery shops around, there are a few, and if you need anything go to Greentop in Ashland, its heaven on earth.

Looked into it this year, but never made it out there. Seems like they are pretty liberal with check in, doe days etc compared to many other installations. I'm interested, because its slightly closer for me than Quantico. Are you active duty?

Yes i am..
I would definitely go to Quantico.
Fort Lee micro manages your hunt with too many rules. Not to mention theres not that much woods to hunt and it's 150$$ a year!
Wont be hunting there ever again, i'll be hunting Fort AP HILL from now on.

Haven't looked into AP Hill. Quantico is super easy with check in and no arbitrary rules like lots of other places. I've hunted there the last 2 years exclusively even though its almost 3 hours away for that reason. Also much less crowded than lots of public stuff. A 5 day hunting pass is $5, annual is around $20. And its thousands of acres...I just wish there was something closer to me.

I live in Prince George, 5 minutes from Fort Lee. Wish I could hunt it because I've seen some nice ones over there by Battlefield Park and Temple. I knew some military guys that hunted it that normally had success.
