So I've got a buddy that can get me 40% off all Badlands gear and have been eying the Pyre bibs. Anyone have any experience with it?

Is it actually windproof?

How quiet is it?

How did you layer with it and what temps did you wear it in?

I had both the FL solitude and the FL uncompagrhe pants this year and my legs would freeze once it got below 40 unless I wore 3 wool baselayers under them. Not repeating that next year.

Same questions on the wooltimate pant

Love my cabelas woolmate bibs. They stop wind and cold. Repel water pretty good for a bit and super warm.
i have xl pair of llbean guide pants which are practically the same thing if your interested pm me

Not direct to your question but I have the Wooltimate coat and like it a lot. Upper body of course is different from legs but I’ll offer my input because I’ve liked the coat enough to consider buying the pants. I wear the coat in 20-30° temps in PA rifle season (i.e. typically a damp or windy cold). I wear a super thin baselayer, thin merino sweater, fleece vest, and then a hoodie beneath the coat. (Yes it’s a lot but I get cold easily. For pants I’d certainly wear less layers.) The wind lining does work. It has a slight rustle to it but not very noisy. Only drawback after a few seasons is the exterior wool material does fray and pill some after stomping through brush and thorns. I don’t imagine the pants would survive years and years of bushwhacking.

My buddy just got the Pyre bibs since he can get 50% off their gear. They DO NOT zip up all the way like most bibs. Keep this in mind as these are not bibs you would walk in wearing. I watched him put these on in the snow and it looked a PIA. Nice warm bibs but that would be my main concern with them

I have the Wooltimate pants, vest, and hoodie jacket. It's not something I wear when walking much at all because it is very warm, and kinda heavy, but I love it for stand hunting. I just wear a merino base layer, then the vest and jacket. Nothing under the pants and I am good to near 20* even with a decent wind. Like was said, it does pill and pick up some stickers after some use and crawling around so I tend to use it when I will not be bustin brush.

I have the same setup. Very warm but tad heavy for walking. I’ve sat down into the teens in that with just fleece base layer and been good to go

Might want to wait, Badlands is coming out with a fleece outer layer, Primaloft insulated, windproof setup this year. Jacket, bib, hoodie, pant and vest.

x5? x6? On the Wooltimate pants. They are silly warm. Probably not something you wear walking in. Guarantee you’ll sweat

Saw that set when I was at ATA. Didn't realize it was windproof though. Will definitely give that a look
