Not scared but definitely cautious. I had a Summit Viper bottom come loose on me at about 20’(retrieve line broke) when I was a teenager. Fortunately my buddy was only 150yds away. Prime reason I jumped on the lineman harness setup shortly after.

If a person makes the choice to climb 15+ feet up a tree to hunt animals, and they already have a bunch of food in their refrigerator at home, I'd argue that they do not have a fear of heights. Feeling apprehension and caution when in a less-than-safe situation (e.g., intentionally putting yourself 15+ ft up a tree) is not nearly the same as having a phobia.

I love heights....here's me before having 2 kids.....fyi its a 300 ft radio tower on a Thai mi....ry school i worked at. One day I felt the urge to climb the ladder to the top without any safety harness. Was probably the greatest thrill of my life to that point and coming down is way harder!IMG_20140625_173439-1.jpgIMG_20140625_173456.jpgIMG_20140625_173542.jpg20160121_180556.jpginIMG_20140625_173542.jpg

I’d say I’m not afraid of heights. Unless we’re getting 100’ plus, then I’m not a fan. I’d compare my “fear” to my “fear” of the dark. When all is good, I’m good. When something comes running towards me in the dark, I’m a well a b****. I’m a jumpy person and when I get that falling sense even though I’m not it freaks me out. Then I’m totally fine after idk if that makes any sense or not.

I’m not a fan of heights.

It’s gotten better over time, but I still don’t feel at ease. Loving roller coasters has helped, and starting my electrician apprenticeship has also assisted as I’m constantly up and down ladders, but I’m slow.

It’s one of the reasons I love saddle hunting so much. The constant pressure from the tether makes me feel at ease. I still have the occasional pucker when climbing up and down with sticks, but once I’m up and all set, I have no concerns.

Big time. Being connected makes me feel much better.

My absolute least favorite is the 2x a year I have to climb on my roof to blow the leaves out of my gutters. That step down from the roof to the ladder really gives me the wobbly knees.

Once upon a time as a teenage puddle pirate, I had the opportunity to change a light bulb or untangle a pennant or do some other mundane chore at the top of the main mast on the USCG Barque EAGLE. 147' up on a vertical spar whipping back and forth as the ship pitched and rolled, wearing the nautical equivalent of linesman's belt clipped into the standing rigging. It was exhilarating, but I didn't look for opportunities to repeat the performance.

I’m a big wus. Takes me a few minutes to settle in and then I’m okay. As soon as my feet hit the ground I have to start all over.

Unfortunately for me I have been on the bad end of a treestand accident. My right heel and ankle remind me daily of complacency. My heel was shattered and terrible sprain. By the grace of god it was not worse and could have been. Getting out of the woods when you can’t walk makes for a very rough trip. Until then was always comfortable with heights. Every since then has been tough and seems to get worse the older I get. I do like the saddle because you are always attached or should be. As a bigger guy gives you some comfort. Then you start looking at ropes and knots and your mind goes to bad places……

I respect heights but I'm not afraid of them. I did way too many sketchy things in my construction days.

I’m afraid of heights if I’m not secured in. Roller coasters, sky diving, climbing with a tether/lineman’s belt are no issue. Sitting in a stand with a harness or saddle hunting, no problem. Being on a roof with no harness, extremely scared. It’s the fear of easily falling without a safety that scares me.

I respect heights, but I can hang off the side of a tree with little fear, even nap in the tree. You won’t catch me on an extension ladder cleaning gutters or on a roof though. To me that tether or safety harness makes all the difference.
This! Cept I’ll get up on the roof and clean the gutters if I have to, but I won’t like it! I used to deliver roofing materials and would ride up the conveyor on the truck. It never freaked me out, but looking back, I’ve done some really dumb **** in my day. Being tethered in does make all the difference! I’m currently trying to figure out how to tether to my house so I can wear my saddle and clean some gutters………need a longer rope!

Well if i need an extra bridge, extra teather, extra carabiner, million pounds of shockloading in my waistbelt and leg straps.just saying.distractions when hunting don't pay off.at this point I would look into a crimson cloak, and a packseat ,a bucket ,a blind.or just say deer don't see flannel, and sit against the tree.im not brave,I'm just stuppid.and when I do fall it's OK to have a laff about it.im not the grizzly man ,I don't think what I am doing is safe or smart,im experimenting.i wiil get bit.and I owe it to you to tell you when it happens.since I openly share the stupid stuff I try.
