So I would to get an ascender for tether and lineman’s rope. I use oplux rope so know my choices are duck Kong or rocknlock ascender. Which is better? Anyone selling one of these?

Ropeman 1 and 2 are also ascenders if you already have one. Oplux may not be in spec.

The rope man 2 fits 8mm ropes as well. It’s small light and strong, the only difference is you don’t pull the release cord under load because the teeth will fray your rope. If you take the weight off and pull the rope like you are advancing your ascender before pulling the release, you will not have that problem. I like the rope man 2 personally.

Amazon sells petzels ascenders if you are interested, i use petzel as well as ropemans for srt

Kong Duck has the widest compatibility with the various rope sizes, so if you ever decide to change rope sizes you won’t have to change ascenders as well. Be advised that you will need to use oval carabiners with the Kong Duck, which is no big deal. Only see a few using Ropeman 2, due to the issues mentioned above. Frankly, IMO easier decision is to just use 9mm rope so you stay in spec for the commonly used ascenders as well as the MadRock Safeguard.
