I have some credits with Audible that are about to expire and I'm looking to burn a few, any recommendations? Hunting-related would be cool. but I'm good with anything really.

I like history, Harry Potter and Game of Thrones is about as mythological as I'll get, I loved Ready Player One, and got bored with Red Sparrow.

Let me know what you got!

If you want good easy novel to listen to, check out Eragon by Christopher Paolini. Its probably like a teenager book but my 22 year old self thoroughly enjoyed it. After I graduated college years back I went to the grand canyon on a road trip with two buddies. They were listening to the Eragon audiobook while we were driving and I was giving them crap about it. 2 against 1 I had no choice in the music or what we listened to. Eventually after hours of resisting I listened and became interested in the book. We ended up finishing like 2 books on the way there and back. I enjoyed them enough to go buy the actual remaining books when I got home and read them.

They may be obvious, but you can’t go wrong with anything by authors Vince Flynn, Tom Clancy, WEB Griffin, Michael Crichton, Lee Child, and Robert Ludlum.

For hunting related try “death in the tall grass” or anything else by safari legend Peter Hathaway Capstick.

If you want scary, try “The Screwtape Letters” by C.S. Lewis. Not actually horror genre, but terrifying in its own right!

Man, I saw the title of this and immediately thought “Harry Potter” but I figured there wouldn’t be too many men or women around here who would actually wanna hear that! :joycat: I’m a man child and love LOTR, The Hobbit and Harry Potter.

I am not ashamed. HP audiobooks are incredible.

I like "the watchers" from Crichton....check it out if ur a dog person.... especially golden retrievers

this one?

Sometimes the real treat to an audiobook is more who's doing the narration. I cast a vote for Sir Ian McKellen narrating the Odyssey. He also narrates Milton in one version of Paradise Lost. The other narrators are good, but it just isn't fair to have anybody else giving it a go next to that dude. He could make the instructions for changing a tire sound awesome

I think that's one of the reasons I loved Ready Player One, Will Wheaton did a fantastic job narrating.

A higher calling by Adam makos
The frontiersmen by Alan Eckert
American Buffalo by Steven Rinella
The devil in the white city by Erik Larsen

If you're a military history buff, the stuff from Patrick K O'Donnell is excellent. I especially enjoyed "The Unknowns" which is the complete story about how the remains for the tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington were selected. Very humbling indeed. Also, Washington's Immortals by the same author. Major John L. Plaster's "Secret Commandos, Behind Enemy Lines With the Elite Warriors of SOG" I really enjoy Plaster's stuff as you feel like you're in the jungle in mission with him and his unit. In my opinion, Plaster especially excels at the fieldcraft stuff which I believe naturally appeals to those who like to hunt. This guy grew up hunting in the midwest then went into special forces during Vietnam. Also, E.B. Sledge's "With the Old Breed"

For hunting and planning a DIY whitetail trip: Bernie Barringer's Bowhunting Roadtrips is great, I also liked Tony Peterson's Bowhunting Public Land Whitetails. Of course Roger Rothaar's stuff if you can find it and Gene Wensel. Classic but still relevant for whitetail hunting. Not sure any of these are on audiobooks but you never know.

I just listened to a 4 hour Jocko podcast with admiral William McRaven. It was an excellent podcast and Jocko read excerpts from his book. Apparently, the audiobook is read by Admiral McRaven himself. There were some amazing stories and it seems like it would be an excellent book.
