Well got off work rushed home changed clothes and head to the woods. Walk in and carried a 50# bag of corn on my shoulder. Pour it out and climb up my ladder and tied off. . well pull my bow up and realized that the bolt has came loose and now my rest is floppy loose. So I tighten up best I can just to get me through the evening. Bout 45 mins before dark her come Bambi up the hill. I let it pass and watch. Well after about 20 mins later I hear movement behind me. I get turned around and notice a decent buck moving my way. Now I just killed a doe at 42 yards on Saturday. So I watch him get closer and closer till he's 5 yards from the base of my tree. I let him walk and get out to about 15 and give me a perfect shot. I come to full draw. Settle in and release. But my rest was not placed back right and I shot bout a foot under his belly with my arrow looking like it was in a hurricane.

Word of advice. MAKE SURE ALL UR BOLTS ARE TIGHT AND SET RIGHT BEFORE U CONTINUE TO HUNT. from now on it will be marked and a set of Allen wrenches in my back pack. Just my luck

That sucks man...the big guy had a plan and it wasn't for you to kill a buck tonight.

That's right. But I'll get everything fixed and sighted back in tomorrow and be ready for Friday and the weekend

If it was too easy it wouldn't be fun!!!! Keep on keeping on!!!!

Man you got to have a nice evening in the woods. You saw some game and even executed what you thought was a good shot. Just without the tracking job and hero pics. Get that thing tuned and either scribe some lines or use a paint marker for future reference.

I had paint marks on my old Matthews. But when I swapped over to my hoyt I forgot to mark it. Not anymore

Definitely consider it an unlucky night with a lucky ending(clean miss), and an important lesson relearned. Good luck out there!
