Bad news for YouTube Channels

But with all of the above said, at some point these "political" issues are affecting my hunting like the 2nd amendment does. Also if they cut out all of the hunting stuff from YouTube where am I going to go for entertainment while on stand hunting and for my learning new tactics? I think we should all stand up for the 1st amendment.

At the risk of stirring the pot here, how does a private company deciding what to allow on their platform violate your first ammendment rights?

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

I've always looked at it as you have the right to protest in front of city hall, but I don't have to let you into my yard or give you the poster board and markers to make your signs.

It's an interesting conundrum in that are platforms such as these a public utility? If not, would they not be considered a monopoly? Section 230 largely gets around this by allowing these platforms to self-regulate for "indecency" which essentially keeps them out of the auspice of a public utility without being considered a monopoly.

Here's the rub. Since they've largely monopolized these forms of media, there are few viable alternatives. Now, if this censorship were universally applied, I wouldn't have an issue with it. Yet, we all know that this censorship is unequally applied along political or ideological lines.

Use this as a test understanding that even this test is less relevant today. Could you show these kill shots on PBS? The answer is "probably not". Now, are there other videos posted that couldn't be shown on PBS? The answer is an absolute "yes". That's the underlining issue with all of this, unequal deplatforming.

my take on these issues are that it's not political at all, but since opinions seem to line up with politics, it devolves into politics, and then into hurt feelings and internet tough guy stuff. this is one of the best-moderated forums i'm on, both by members conduct/ adherence to the rules and by mods, let's not change a thing. anyone got one of those kumbaya gifs handy?

but also yes, demonetizing these videos is BS, people need to understand MORE about where their food comes from, not less. and thats coming from one of those liberals ;)

@thedutchtouch, you bring up a good point with all of this.

This forum is unique in topic but not in function. There are 1,000's of forums that all have similar function. As such, site mods can do whatever they want with content regulation. If I didn't like what the mods were doing, I could always go somewhere else.

That's much less true when it comes to the "big" social media platforms. There are few viable alternatives for those formats which gets back to the public utility/monopoly debate.

My food doesn't come from the backyard of an Atlanta mansion. I could care less about some folks youtube finances.

There was another platform offered earlier in this thread. Hope the folks who are willing to share freely can continue to find avenues to do so.
