Balloons

Helium balloons may be of of the worst inventions ever for the environment. I always find them in the woods and last offshore fishing trip we found 17 in 1 day

Has anyone thought of creating a biodegradable balloon that if someone lets one go it either breaks apart after getting wet or breaks down a lot faster than the current latex ones? I started thinking about this earlier this week at my wife’s grandmothers funeral.

I find the balloons all over the place in the timber. Sometimes close to bedding and sometimes not. In middle TN the terrain is relatively flat and may influence the decent of the balloon in a different way than up north but it is definitely an acute observation non the less

I have the same experience in TN, I find them often in saddles and low spots on ridges, but not always soley in bedding areas. I think the wind and thermals conspire to create hub areas that wild baloons naturally gravitate towards. Ironically, these are often the same places bucks gravitate towards to scent check does and figure out who or what is around. One thing I do know is, balloons have a lot of difficulty seeking out places with favorable winds AND bedding cover...
