"Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
Old Mother Nature's recipes
That brings the bare necessities of life"

5 tips for hunting to everyone old and new to reset all of our crazy rabbit hole discussions on this site.

1. The best scent control is wind control.
2. The best clothing (be it warm, waterproof, lightweight, silk, wool, whatever) is comfortable clothing you can afford
3. The best arrow is one you can hit the bullseye with 99% of the time
4. The best tree stand/saddle setup is one that is safe
5. The best way to get better at hunting, is to hunt and learn from your failures; it's a never ending process.

Cheers!

1. Any hunt you learned something however small, is a successful hunt, if you claimed an animal or not
2. gear clothing or climbing, use what works for you
3. Enjoy the sunsets or sunrises, its an amazing experience to be in the woods at last or first light.
4. the blood rushing through your ears can make it sound like rustling leaves in a still woods.
5. keep it simple stupid (overthinking is bad)

Deer are predominantly nocturnal creatures.

Deer don’t think and act like people, they think and act like deer.

Deer don’t like walking around in a thick winter coat when it’s warm and sunny out.

Don’t climb a tree if there’s a better hide to kill a deer from the ground.

Don’t climb a tree if the amount and type of sign, and the terrain don’t dictate that deer are very nearby and likely moving during daylight hours within range of your weapon.

1. Hunt deer where they want to be, not where you want them to be.

2. it’s better to be in a mediocre tree in a great spot than a great tree in a mediocre spot. Same can be said for ground hunting, the best spots usually aren’t convenient to hunt, suck it up and make it work.

3. scouting never ends, do it in and out of season year round when possible.

4. when hunting public lands, it’s better to be aggressive and go in for the kill than “play it safe”. If someone’s gonna booger a spot, I’d rather it be me and know its boogered, very well could get your chance in the process.

5. plan your hunt, hunt your plan. This holds true but remember to trust your gut and read what you see on the ground.

lastly, if you hunt a spot/area and it seems devoid of deer and other critters, don’t bother going back. Lots of other places to hunt out there.

1. Always safety first (gear, clothing, food, water, etc)
2. Don’t forget the TP/wipes! (Oak leaves are no fun on the bum)
3. Always learn something on each hunt
4. Practice and accuracy go hand in hand
5. Be respectful of the land, other hunters & the game you hunt

  1. Plan and Scout and do it over and over
  2. Safety and Comfort
  3. Practice and know your limits
  4. Learn and try new things and know what works for you and how you hunt
  5. Respect the animals you hunt
