Which base layers do you guys use? I am looking into the Merino Wool, but wanted to get some opinions on brands, etc...

I like a merino base for mid range temps (30-50).

I will do a synthetic (polypro) UNDER my merino when its real cold (0-29).

I'll also layer with a wool sweater or a polypro hoodie when its awful. The trick is getting it right for the walk in, start chilly and heat up as you walk. Make your climb in what you wore to walk in and then layer once you're setup and cool off.

OK, so 0-29 degrees you have a base layer below your Merino? I have been looking at the Pnuma Merino base layers. Anyone have experience with these? Lifetime warranty sounds kinda nice.

I run black ovis 200 gram. And yes when its very cold I'll run military surplus thin polypropylene top and bottoms. If its REAL cold I'll layer the thicker poly pro tops and bottoms OVER my merino. But that's very rarely necessary.

Any experience with First Lite merino?
