Bear Archery (THP Adapt)

Just got mine last night, I like it for the few shots I've sent out of it. Absolutely dead in hand with nothin on it but a sight and rest. There's a but of a heavy rollover the first inch or two of draw but then super smooth after that .

Almost 2” of heavy rollover? Has it been tuned?

Yes it has, When I said a inch or two it may be less but you notice it then its gone. Maybe its a half inch to a inch but remember I only shot it a few times before leaving the shop. I don't think its worse than most bows I've shot but it is there. I am also comparing this to how I remember the effortlessness draw was on my older Mathews single cams. I will shoot it next to my elite this week to see how it compares.

I think you will love it. I wish the ata was a little longer for me. Enjoy.

How has that heavy rollover been? Has it worn you down at all or gotten any better or still a draw like a lump in throat? My sister is picking one up. I hope I steered her right.

So some of you have been shooting your THP Bear Adapt's now for a week or better, what's the consensus?

I bought one too to use as a back up for hunting season. So far so good. May upgrade the string stop or add a monkey tail to the string as the only noise I really notice is the string vibration after the shot.

I’ve not personally shot one or handled one so take my thoughts with a level of “grain of salt.” However, I’ve been bowhunting a long time and have and still own single cam bows and over the last several years have set up my own bows and tuned them myself. Anyway, it’s a single cam so it is inherently a very tunable and stable system once the long string and cable is all stretched in. With any single cam you want to be assured that the cam is set correct at brace to minimize up and down nock travel. Once that is set; however you don’t have to worry about cam timing like you do with dual cam bows. Single cams are slower overall but if you’re a long draw archer or just don’t care much about speed for performance for a variety of reasons, it will be a very reliable and stable system. The price point is excellent and Besr Archery is doing a lot of great stuff. I honestly don’t think you can go wrong. If you’re a flagship type of person for status or otherwise, it’s probably not the system for you. I say this is for the practical hunter who wants a great bow at a great price with some inherent stability engineered into the system for day in and day out reliable hunting performance once set up.

I hunted all season with this bow and I'm happy with it. I purchased it right before season and got it ready quickly. I'm planning on dialing it in this spring/summer with some arrow builds and fine tuning. Besides this bow, the only bow I've owned was a Bear "Truth" from like 2007 and it honestly is very similar to that bow, both solo cams and specs.

I don’t have this bow but my brother does and it’s his first bow. (Took him 23 years to finally realize what he was missing out on) like @woodsdog2 said the fact that it’s a single cam and the ease of tuning is great for what the bow imo was designed for as an entry level and or budget friendly bow. I shot my brothers a few times and it’s honestly a very nice bow and impressively quick and quiet for the price point. If memory serves me right it was shooting yo around 257fps? Running a 450 grain arrow pulling 60# at 29”. Tuning it was quick as long as the timing mark is lined up properly there’s almost nothing to get to it shooting perfect. The only issue we had was after about 500 shots I had to yoke tune it for him believe I put 2 turns in one yoke but it’s been flawless ever since

I told myself I was done buying bows I hadn't shot yet but I ordered one and wasn't disappointed. I like the simplicity of the single cam, it has a very nice grip and the weight/balance of the bow is good. I haven't used the limb stop yet but I plan to. I saw someone online call it a more modern Switchback. I have a switchback XT that I really like but considering nearly 20 year old switchbacks/XT's are still in the $350-400 range used, the Adapt is the better buy today IMO.

I picked up the Adapt a couple months ago and have been shooting it almost daily. It's a great bow! Absolutely love shooting it. This is my first single cam bow and I'm really impressed with how smooth the draw and let off are. With the limb stop installed it's a rock solid back wall. I did check out some of the other single cam models from Bear and they did something different with this cam. Much smoother than their other cams. The new Species EV also has this new cam. Wasn't impressed with the RTH package they offer, recommend getting the bow only and adding your own accessories. I also prefer shooting it without the hand grip, found it was a little too bulky for my hand. More consistent straight off the riser. I put a QAD rest, Suanders hyperglide slide, peep, a decent sight, tuned it and holy smokes does this bow shoot nice! Don't notice any hand shock, quiet, just so smooth. I guess some would say I stepped down from shooting a Bowtech to a Bear but I can shoot the Adapt every bit as accurately as my older "flagship" bow. Don't let the price fool you, go to a bow shop and try it. Don't think you'll be disappointed.

I may be moving my Adapt. Interested in another route. Anyone interested in an Adapt I purchased in August RTH let me know.
