Just got my minis yesterday, EWO on backorder for 6wks. Can I use and Ultimaider with the Beast steps as they slant up a little? And is anyone using an aider w these sticks and the stock standoffs or do I have to put the EWO standoffs on it? Thanks

I used ultimaider on beast sticks & was fine just cinch it as tight as you can on the step & give it a couple wraps of vet tape to hold in place.

I use cable aiders on mini beast stick and really like them. I have the ultimate aider coming. I plan to mount is as Bigterp says on my bottom stick.

i have cable aiders on all 4 of my beast sticks (got them used on here like that). they work well and i don't notice any foot pain. realistically the time you spend with your foot in an aider/bearing weight is relatively minimal.

I understand, guess it comes down to preference. Have u used a 2 or 3 step cable?

i think cable aiders only come in one step versions (that's what i have/ only used). i experimented with some DIY double step amsteel aiders on hawk sticks previously, didn't like them all that much

Cable step aiders are currently only available in a single step configuration.

The benefit of cable aiders is the rigidity / stiffness of the cable keeps the step open and in place. They do not hurt if you step on them wearing boots or shoes.

One drawback to material based aiders (rope or webbing) is they lack rigidity (compared to cable aiders), making them harder to find when climbing down. They also collapse more when you step in them. The benefit they offer is the ability to have multiple steps.

I run cable aiders on my minis and regular beast sticks. No searching for them in the dark. They are right where you left them everytime. Plus when you start to put pressure Into them you can feel exactly where they are I hardly ever even look down anymore climbing down at night just go by the feel. I have no plans on switching anything. I only carry 3 sticks with cables on them most of the time. Gets me plenty high for what I want to do. Have a fourth if I think I will need it. But rarely ever take the fourth with me.

It was OK with the amount of standoff from the tree?
Yes, when you climb and put the foot into the aider make sure your toes are gripping the tree.

Don't just put the foot into the aider kind of loose. Have the support of teh toe of your boot kind of digging into the tree.

I have 4 18" aiders on my beast minis and love them.

Just remember grippy toes

I ran cable aiders on my beast sticks and they were great. They are much more stout than a webbing aider.

Also, I don’t see this mentioned, but I put a couple (three?) washers under the cable aider so I can rotate it around 360 on my beast sticks. Went to the hardware store and picked up a few longer bolts.

Good idea just make sure they are grade 8 bolts or you are risking them breaking

Yes, absolutely. Good addition. Use grade 8 boots. And, if using washers as I suggested for spacers, make those grade 8 as well.

I have one set with webbing aiders and one with cable aiders at the moment. Webbing aiders are easy to make and cheap. It will cost you about $50 to make the aiders for your sticks from webbing. Check out diysportsman in YouTube.
