Beast sticks or EWO

Another option is to use a knaider in conjunction with the cable aiders. If you’re 6’ tall with about a 34” inseam, it will let you place the bottom of the cable aider about 30” off the ground and get the knaider hook in the cable aider without stretching things out. With the bottom of the cable aider 30” off the ground, and 18” cables, and 18” between steps on the Beast mini’s that gives you 30+18+18=66” per stick. Three sticks will get your feet 16.5’ off the ground to the top of the 3rd stick. If you step another 18” up onto your platform or ROS, your feet will be 18’ off the ground.

I use three beast sticks with 15” cables on each. I also use a 2 step movable aider which gets me to 21’. Then 23’ with my platform. I don’t even use my 4th stick. Stays at home

Thanks for all of the replies. I was planning on using 3 sticks with 20" steps and three 18" cables. I'm 6 feet tall. Does anyone have a rough idea how high that might get me?

I’m willing to bet you’ll get 15ft, maybe better. I’m pretty sure I can get 13-15ft and I’m only 5’7”

As others have said, do a 2-3 step aider on your bottom stick and you’ll get 6-7 ft. from the get go.

I've read the beast stick standoffs can be sharp and tear up clothing and what not. Hasn't been mentioned, so maybe that's not true anymore.
Not true anymore. My batch of minis this year were dramatically dulled from earlier batches. No worries on tearing stuff up anymore

Good to hear. Still worth a mention as "deals" come up on Classifieds for older gen gear.

Some of the older beast standoffs were reported bent too, but the newer ones seem to have a better track record.

I think they’re close in quality with EWO being a bit better/perceived durability. Stacking goes to the beast sticks. Stand offs and steps go to the EWO stick. In the end the standoffs were too short on the beast stick for me. If you have smaller feet they might work well for you. I just took some pics of the two stand offs one a stick together for reference View attachment 54313View attachment 54314View attachment 54314View attachment 54313View attachment 54314
Those pics….mike drop! Lol.

I have seen the one sticking method and I'm personally not a fan. I do like 2-3 step aider on the first stick. I'd be fine with 17.5 feet

One thing that may work that I use is a Swaider when using my EWO sticks. Sometimes I use it with all three sticks, but usually will just use it with the bottom stick. It allows me to get the top of my stick around 7-8 ft high and from there will climb normally. Just for reference, I am 6'3 and my aiders are 22 inches long. So, I will usually get my top height around 17-19 ft which seems to be about the height you were hoping to achieve.

Do the EWO bite into the tree as good as the BEAST?

I’ve never used the beast sticks. I have an Eastern Woods Outdoors stick for single sticking. The hardest part about climbing with it for me is removing the stick after I’ve climbed it. It bites the tree very hard and can make it difficult to pull it up to loosen it. I only mention this as a response to your comment. I’m very happy it bites so hard.

Thanks for all of the help. I ended up pulling the trigger on 3 EWO 20'" sticks and three 18" EWO cable waiders. I'll probably look into getting a two or three step aider for the first step. The stand off is probably what sold me. Another thing that I like is the 20" step instead of a 22" Beast or 18" Mini Beast. The 20" seemed to be a happy medium. Now I'll just have to practice using them and the amsteel rope mod.

You're gonna love them.

Take a look at the Ultimaider on Eastern Woods Outdoors as well. The steps on the sticks have little slots that you can run the webbing of the aider through that looks super solid. Wanted to get one for my sticks, but I had the swaider already and liked that system.

Maybe it's childish but if I was looking to gets some sticks I'm giving my money to the guy who promotes saddle hunting vs the guys talking poo poo on it

i think this issue was resolved. I just received a set of beast sticks and they are not sharp at all, unlike my shikars.

Went on to order EWO backordered 3-5wks. 500 bucks for 3 sticks yea they should b nice as hell. My 1st year and don't have any sticks. Hard to swallow buying something to just use this yr. Unless I just 1stick it.

There are 4 sticks for 500 on Facebook

I get to 19" with 4 beast mini's with 18" aiders. Thats comfortably without stretching it. I have measured with a tape measure a few times so I know its an accurate height reading. Im 5'10.

I have not tried the EWO sticks but the beast sticks are very solid on the tree.

I sold my brother 3 second gen?.. beast stiks with drilled holes in them covered with mole skin kit with 1/4" amsteel aiders on each, amsteel rope mod and the non recall kuhnerts ambush all for $450
All in like new condition. I prefer a different stand and made a one stik out of the 4th stik. Never used them other than testing really.

He is very happy with 3 stiks/single aider climbing instead of one stiking.

I have not had a problem with stepping on Beast stiks as far as clearance goes.

The ewo looks good but as a Beasty I wonder about the extra swing putting my toe into the tree from the higher stand off.
I get enough of that from the Beast stik.
