I’m thinking of swapping from a 20” Hawk to a 20” Beast. Looks like almost 1lb weight savings. I have a cam cleat on my Hawk and really like it for 1-sticking.

Scrolling through the forums I don’t see a ton of people using a cam cleat with the Beast sticks? Is there a reason for this or am I just missing it?

Any other suggestions on a different stick? The EWO stick looks good but its pretty pricey and wouldn’t save as much weight.

I think it’s been done, but if I recall, the existing holes and the holes needed for the cleat mounting were issues to overcome.

Here’s one of the videos on it

A little bit of “meh” stuff in that video.

Threading a 12-24 (oversized) screw instead of using a #10 as recommended by Schaefer seemed odd.

Stopper knot on a drilled hole instead of girth hitching to the stick seemed like it would wear over time.

Getting those nuts lined up inside the stick instead of just drilling all the way through.

Might have to do more thinking here.

I did it this year on my Beast Sticks. I ended up installing the cams on the side of the sticks and using a nylon spacer and washers thru the hole. Really needs a pic. They worked out great and I'm really happy with them.
