Weight, size, pack ability, strength, safe, how solid. All questions we ask. What's the best in your opinion. Only ask because I'm new to this and use to treestand hunting so was looking more into a predator type platform in case I need to stand on to get some of my shots.

I do live in southern wv to so I'll be packing in and where I hunt its steep and rough. So weight and pack ability is big.

With most of this stuff it comes down to personal preference. I have a Predator and like it, but I haven't used any other platform so take it for what it is worth. From my reading on here is sure seems like the Predator and the OOAL Ridge Runner platforms seemed to be liked by most.

I've hunted the last two years off a Predator. I also had the opportunity to try buddies Ridge Runner this last summer. They both excel in their own way. The Predator is slightly lighter and packs slightly thinner and hooks up to the tree well. That said, the Ridge Runner is only slightly larger and really locks to the tree. I was standing with my feet on the "wrong" side of the V shape of the platform pushing it away from the tree and it didn't move a bit. It locks solid. Which is better . . . it's too close to call for me and is going to be up to what you're looking for in a platform.

Personally, at this point I'm sticking with the Predator simply because it packs a little better and I have replaced the strap with an amsteel daisy chain, a mod I think would be difficult with the Ridge Runner given the location of the attachment lugs.

I am heavyset and I use the Ridge Runner with a mini versa strap. It locks down like nobody’s business for me. All the side pressure in the world won’t move it (when installed correctly).

I never tried the Predator, so have no experiential input on that platform.

I have a predator and I really like it! It packs up nice!
Also recommend the Versa strap by Tethrd ,for hanging your predator! Its quiet and light

I've had both of OOAL's and they both are solid and awesome. I went to a ROS because I like to be able to walk around the tree and they are light to carry, plus Nutterbuster said they were the way to go so that's good enough for me...

I can vouch for the ridge runner
Haven’t used predator (size 16 boots)
I did use the perch but it moved a lot for me and my boots far exceeded the platform dimensions

As Boyne said the Ridge runner REALLY locks to the tree
It is slightly bigger but I strap mine to the back of my pack and don’t even know it’s there till I put the last stick on

I traded my perch and a step to Murph for this ridge
He vet wrapped and stealth stripped it which I wouldn’t have likely done myself, but it was a nice touch.

There’s a lot of options
I also own the Ambush by Lone wolf

It’s nice for sure but u can get 2 ridge runners for the price of one lone wolf darn near.
I actually may trade it or sell to get 2 more ridge to have better platform options for my family to use with their saddle setups

But then again the ambush is a very attractive looking piece of equipment !

Agree with your assessment minus the daisy chain on the RR. I ran a 7/64" amsteel daisy all last season and it worked better on it than than it did for me on the Predator.

I stand corrected. That's great to hear John! . . . Wait, I think that info's gonna cost me some more money . . . Don't tell my wife! :tearsofjoy:

I have a predator I have used extensively. Had a ridge runner it was okay. I think the predator is the best one I have had. I also, have an ambush but don’t have the time in to pass judgement on that one just yet. Seems promising...

Ive only used a gen 1 predator
So far.
I want something way more mobile for those scout/ hunts i do often.
Thinking the large top step or just the ring as nutter likes.

WEI perch if you use the stepladder to climb the tree you could use the steps or buy the perch it light and easy to carry in. I love my saddle platform from Wild edge

Might have to add the treehopper to the list of good platforms. It's lighter than all the others, but still seems to be pretty good size. I don't have any personal experience with. Being a new product, I don't who's actually got to hang it on a tree and hunt with it.
