"Best" Saddle for one sticking?

I've only tried it a couple times but didn't like hanging in my Flex. I can't seem to pull it down far enough to support a good sit. If I use the recliner band under my hamstrings it is much more comfy hanging.

I've tried with a JX3 but I'm still figuring out how to balance things to sit and not slide out the front.

My AH Evo is comfy to hang and sit all day. If only there were buckles for the leg loops so I don't have to step through them with muddy boots..... Right now if I'm 1-sticking it's in the Evo.

I tried using my one stick tonight and while making my first stick move up I realized my Phantom didn't feel so comfortable when hanging by the tether with nothing underfoot. I'm thinking I'll try again with the leg loops tighter to see if it sits a little better and more like a RCH next time.

Which brings me to the question. What saddle are y'all using to one stick climb being the you're just hanging there in between moves?

Yep, I felt the same in my Phantom the first few times I climbed in it. It’s kind of narrow and doesn’t cup you butt very well and when you are skinny with no butt it kind of feels like you are going to fall out of it just a little. So, I lowered it on my hips, tightened the hip belt down then tightened the leg loops, which makes it cup your but more. No problems after that.

To follow up I received my Method and I find the two panel is much more confidence inspiring when making the move one sticking. I haven't tried with leg loops yet which I think will help even more.

I tested moving my solo scout and it might have just been my tree but that thing does not slide up the tree as well as I would have liked or hoped. Further testing will be conducted.

So you're one-sticking AND no-sticking?

Ok, when you mentioned the Solo not sliding up the tree that through me off...

The Method took me part of a day to 'learn'. It's definitely not like other saddles!
I really like mine!

Ah. Gotcha. I think I just need to work with the Solo Scout some more. I was trying to slide it with out loosening it a ton but it seemed to be the the combo of the tree's bark and the strap that didn't want to work together well.

@Red Beard seems to be a solo scout master so maybe he can give me a couple pointers. I would love to use the platform and two hawk steps with the Workhorse aider setup to create a light and small packing option like he has shown in some videos.

I’m not Red Beard (my beard is more salt-and-pepper!), but I have some experience one-sticking (or no-sticking as it is being called these days) with the solo scout so I’ll chime in if you don’t mind….

The webbing on the solo scout is very soft and pliable which I think makes it hard to slide up the tree - it sags and gets caught on everything. So I remove the scout from the tree and move it up rather than trying to slide it up. A couple of things help make this easier:

1. I sewed the loops in the strap folded-over lengthwise to make the strap narrower and give the loop more rigidity. This makes it easier to get on and off the button. It is not load-bearing stitching so it doesn’t have to be special thread or anything - it just makes the strapping on the loop easier to get over the button.
2. I sanded the button a bit to reduce the friction of the rough finish they spray on there.
3. I put a nite ize gear tie on my tether right behind the loop (or eye or delta link or whatever you use) and hang the platform from that gear tie while I fasten and tighten the strap. Makes it so you can use two hands to attach the platform.

That’s all I gots. Good luck.

Thanks man! I'll give the tips a go and see how it helps.

I really like my TX-5 saddle for one sticking. Really comfortable. I've tried many different saddles and for me it seems to be the most comfortable foe all methods of climbing and hunting.
