Reflect on carry 30 lb stand..

Last year at this time, I was just reading post.

Then I purchased a
  • rock climbing harness
  • ask my wife for sit drag for Christmas
  • then purchased some carabiners
  • a speedy stich
  • rope for tether, rope for friction hitches, linesman belt
  • tubular webbing
  • Primal steps
  • single hawk stick
  • more cabiners
  • More rope
  • a belay device

then I start sewing
modify my sit drag
watch more youtube
read more forum articles
buy more stuff
Learn to tie knots(water knot, prusick, distiel, fishermans,....)
make a carry bag for my steps

read this forum - daily for more education - more information

Practice in back yard...
Practice some more

purchase knee pads

purchase a aero hunter kite(still waiting for it to ship)

Pack up my rig.. total weight 17lbs

Score--- Hanging from a DIY SD/RCH, using what I learned from ready this forum..got my first deer with a bow. as the commercial says PRICELESS...
Rappel down.. stuck rappel rope, climb back up, rappel down... make mental note...

I"m 57 and I feel like a kid again...

Now I'm addicted to The Hunting Public and Hunting Beast pod cast.. Next goal.. 10 pointer or larger off public land..

They say it takes a village to raise a child...

I'm finding that Saddle Hunter forum is my village for saddle hunting. Thank you to all those that contribute to this forum and for those that make the videos...

For you newbies.. If you have read this far, my last piece of advice.
Practice, Practice, fail, reflect, correct, Practice, Practice, celebrate your success.. rinse and repeat

Awesome! And thanks for supporting @redsquirrel by becoming a full member so we can continue to get our fix!

I think disease is fairly contagious. I have been following all the things you mentioned as well. Opening day came in on 10/1 here in Indiana. Like years past, I slapped on the ole summit climber and headed out early. A few days of that and I finally caved. I decided to order the trophyline since I could get it the quickest. Read a lot of info here and decided to start with a four pack of muddy pros. To save $$ I went with the ring of steps from silent approach for a platform. I am only 5 sits in now and today I ordered a set of hawk heliums and a predator platform. I may have to get a second job (during summer months only) to support this new addiction. I love it though. Took my climber out one more time to the deepest part of the woods and left it on a tree so when my son goes with me he doesn't have to carry his climber so far. Have a feeling he will be getting a saddle from santa. Again, thank everyone for all the tips, tricks, videos, reviews, etc...

Yeah, so I’m considering sharing your post with my wife... at least she’ll understand that its the epidemic that’s hit each of us! So much for a cost effective hunting method, but once I got dialed in 2 weeks ago after buying (and selling) ROS, WE Stepps, original Kestrel, Podium, and single sticking a Helium, I’m never looking back!

Once I get my Ridge Runner, my set up will be complete.... until Matt from OOAL introduces his new sticks in a couple of months...

Hi, my name is Mike and I'm a new saddle hunter.

Hi Mike. Fish are friends not food.... I'm new to saddles this year and I'm pretty sure I've spent atleast $1500 so far as a result.
