Bings Birdseye

I haven't used this, but nothing is loading but a search box when I click on it. Am I missing something or can you check the link?

Sorry I'll have to get on my computer. Been doing everything from my phone. I'll do it tonight or you can just look up bings Birdseye maps. Definitely worth checking out if yo haven't.

This should work. Zoom to your area then click the birdseye button. Then to change images of the same area click the arrows that are around the compass in the top right corner. Some of my hunting area is about the same quality as google maps. But 95% of them have some of the best sat images i've ever seen.

Ok, just went to http://www.bing.com/maps/ and clicked on birdseye. I haven't used that before. Seems pretty good. I am very impressed on the resolution when you zoom all the way in. I can almost pick out a couple of my trees. Are you talking about clicking on the compass in the upper right to change images? Not doing anything for me. Maybe this is the only image available for this spot. Is there anyway you can load gps waypoints and tracks onto the map? Maybe if you register and use my places?

I know you can put a waypoint on there. I haven't registered so I'm not sure about the tracks. The arrows that look like they're bending around the compass are the ones I'm talking about. Not the ones that are pointing from n s e w.

Got it. I see what you mean. I am guessing that they are taken from satellites at different angles to give the different perspective and that is why they are sometimes at different times of the year.

I use several but GPS toolbox has wintertime images for my hunting area at a very high resolution.

Wow it is pretty impressive and it is also the first aerials I've seen for my area taken after the leaves fall.

The Bing zoom is really good.
I've used GPS Status for pinpointing and the compass for a long time. The location screen is just black. Do I need to upgrade/buy to get the aerial images?

I think I paid like $2.99 several years ago. Not sure about the current pricing.

Google earth sucks for me now... i think to save storage space on their servers trees look animated instead of actual images like they yhey used to be...

Thanks guys for posting this info...

That is actually probably their new "terrain" or "3D building" settings. Both of those settings can be turned off. I'll get on tomorrow and figure out how again.

As google earth expands their 3D buildings resolutions, though, it is becoming a more and more powerful tool.
