looking for some advice. I currently use a Kuiu harness for binos and a pouch for my rangefinder. I have alsways sat in ladders and lockons and worked well for me.

do you guys wear this while saddle hunting and tethered in or keep lose in a back pack for easy grabbing?

I use a DIY Rick Young style harness for everything.

I wear my FHF harness with rangefinder pouch on every saddle hunt for several years straight now , no issues whatsoever. Has my wind checkers too. Feels like a little cockpit but no issues with string clearance etc

I have one I use also, but how you attach your rangefinder?

ACG Hybrid/Hybrid Max - used it all year and very pleased with it. Keeps a lot right in front of me

Waddle’s rangefinder method is legit.
No doubt! Good grief! So simple even I can do it! I made Ricks bino harness out of 1/8” amsteel and LOVE it…..I bet you already have the stuff to make one! I will be making a Waddells rangefinder harness TODAY!

When you make the sling, make it a little long to allow for layers. Just tie a quick knot to shorten it in warmer weather.

I used to roll waddell style with the paracord and adjustable knot and it was great, but I noticed after a year or two my range finder was getting a little beat up and the exposed lenses bothered me walking in. Functionally its great but I switched to a case on my chest harness just to protect my gear a little more and I have been plenty happy with they new configuration. I tether the RF to the case so I can still just drop it if necessary when bowhunting. Same thing with Rick Young, I use them on my cheap pair of nockers but my nice ones stay in an enclosed harness after running around chasing elk and getting dust and crap all in my glass with the Rick Youngs

Kuiu for rifle hunting out west and my trip to Alaska this year. When I’m bow hunting from a saddle I don’t find the need to use binoculars because the ranges are so short. I have carried a Vortex monocular, just used the belt clip to pass it into the molle webbing on my hung backpack when not in use.

Optional supplies for rangefinder attachment:

Two Hole Detachable Cord Lock:

8" or so of 1/8" shock cord

Zipper pull end (optional)

Rangefinder attachment:

Put one half of the detachable cord stop on your final harness between where the cord runs behind the buckle and the bino attachment.

Thread the 8-in piece of shock cord through your rangefinder attachment point, slide on the other half of the cord stop, and either tie in an overhand knot or use a zipper pull. Play around and trim as needed.
